We could use a specific thread for hosts of games for newcomers and relatively new players to seek coaches for the games. This is it.

Current, coaches are needed for Student Mafia (13 players, 10/3, randomized open setup). This game will have 7 reserved player slots for new and relatively new players (<=3 games played here), and 6 open slots (which still prioritize new/relatively new players over others).

You want someone who can tell the kiddies what NOT to do? Cause I'm all over that.

I liked the idea of team mini mafia where we matched veteran/newbie players together. If this game starts in around 2 weeks I can coach, but I am swamped until around December 16th.

I could try, but I'd be decent as a scum coach at best. My town is terribly unpractised.

I could coach, but I'd rather coach only one townie because I'd rather not coach while having access to extra alignment information. If this isn't feasible, I'll pass

Oh, ouch, brutal!

I'm new. I want to be good. This sounds like it would be really awesome. I'm currently keeping up to date with XLVII (somehow) and gradually reading through steamship. Would there be better games to read than these?

Drop Steamship in favour of something more traditional, eg. LotR.

LotR is hardly traditional.

The best games to read are probably something like Ace's Some mafia game

I just read through Mini Mafia X, since it sounded more manageable:

I suggest anyone who hasn't, read Ace's Scum guide...it's not finished, but it's fucking good. I'm undefeated as scum on MafiaScum and I attribute it COMPLETELY to the fact that I read and follow his guide.

Just link them to your previous games?

Oh, ouch, brutal!

I'm new. I want to be good. This sounds like it would be really awesome. I'm currently keeping up to date with XLVII (somehow) and gradually reading through steamship. Would there be better games to read than these?

Drop Steamship in favour of something more traditional, eg. LotR.

LotR is hardly traditional.

The best games to read are probably something like Ace's Some mafia game

I just read through Mini Mafia X, since it sounded more manageable:

Skipping, of course, the "Dead Players" spoiler.

Wow. super, super intense.

Was a good game. Bugs played very well.

Yes. At the end I was like "Yes! wbg finally got his majority together!" and then I read the final day post and I was like o_O

lololol

minis are so fun. My favorite games. Resurrection Mafia hosted by iGrok, Team Melee Mini Mafia hosted by Palmar, Cosmic Horror hosted by Hesmyrr, and My Little Pony Mafia hosted by GMarshal are all excellent games to read IMO.

They were really fun to play too ^^

The night i got a red check on someone they died in MLP

MLP was hilarious.

I was one vote away from being hammered day 2 and I managed to convince Forumite not to do it rofl

yea that would have made the game easier for us.

there was of course the small matter of the "100% confirmed town who actually turned out to be a 3rd party survivor helping the mafia" thing.

I'm happy to coach in a 1 on 1 scenario. I prefer to have no more information than the player I am coaching.

No the reason you're undefeated as scum on ms is because ms town play is awful.t

If each vet knows the identity of the other 11, but not which newbie they're coaching, that adds a whole new level of deception :D

I would love to coach!

Been playing forum mafia for like 3+ years or something and never tried coaching someone through a game. Sounds fun and smart to increase the number of non noobs!

Wasn't something like this proposed similar to Palmar's Couples Therapy game around the time it was played?

Right now it looks like vaderseven, Serejai, GreYMisT, and Cyber_Cheese (scum only?) are offering to coach, while Radfield and syllogism are offering to coach on a one on one basis only. Let me know if I've missed you.

Let's see what the player distribution happens to be in the game before deciding exactly how to assign coaches.

Zona will you be writing analysis on the game?

I'd like to "play along" while observing. If you'd like, I can write up some analysis from what I would have done from town/scum perspectives each day, and then draw on conclusions about the play of each side.

It looks like you have plenty of coaches. Rad+syllo are excellent.

If you are still looking for coaches zona you can add me in. I can help with either town or scum side.

I can help either side (all players of said side) but not all players in the game.

If coaching counts as being in a game I might drop out cuz I want to play in the mafia that is being put up now.

*shrug*

I have time for both and coaching is much easier as I don't have to post. Its really up to the host of the two games.

I'm willing to coach in the newbie game, I can take on either side, but if I'm coaching town I'd rather only coach one player as I don't want to have any extra information.
