omfg the judo wtf rofl Was 1-0 GB women, 20 seconds left, contreversial descion to award the other lady a point with 20 seconds left (after like 20second discussion with refs/umpires) then with 3 seconds to go she lands a "yuko" and wins 2-1. Crazy
it's not necessary controversial since it's common for the ref to discuss together decisions which have a huge impact on the fight

well when you've Riner/Decosse it's easier, 2 guaranteed medals. (and Tcheumeo is really scarry today Oo) Then your youngs did really well, lots of neo-olympians getting bronze. Generally speaking obtaining so much medals in lower weight categories was a bit surprising and the heaviers didn't fail so it's really good

Japanese Judo looks the best to me in the matches, but its so inefficient :/

Imo they're laging a bit behind regarding the kumikata (the way you try to put your hands on your opponent) and it's really hard to use a technical judo without a proper kumikata. But yeah technic wise they're still the best by quite some margin.

Anyone just see the awesome performance by the hungarian girl against the polish one? She had an injured leg and looked like she was going to lose by 1 pt but then she performed a cool high flip move and won the ippon

Spain is sucking so much this event. One medal in 5 days, Wow.

We are not even halfway in the olympics yet, so there are so many more medals to get. Besides, a country like Denmark has had like 4 events with chance of medals and have gotten 2 so far. In the next 48 hours Denmark will have had something like 8 more realistic chances of medals... Point is: We are very early in the schedule, so it is a bit premature to look at statistics unless you have an overview of where your potential medals are and a significant part has passed.

Not even being reductionist or supercilious or anything silly like that. gogo China ;P
Though I do agree with the sentiment that it's very unsportsmanlike and just generally very bad for people to game the draws the way those badminton teams did... at the same time, as someone said: they essentially got disqualified by doing a rational thing in very irrational circumstances. But in the end the disqualification was justified of course.
I hope Phelps wins that 100m fly!
It must feel great to be rooting for china in the Olympics . Anyway I feel it will be closer than last time for the most golds but china should still win.

Hard to say, right now China has a pretty good lead, but especially after track and field gets towards the final stages (among other events), China might find that its lead isn't so strong after all. So far not bad though, nice to see the swim victories for sure.
