Anybody know of a Korean stream? I don't want to watch SPOTV.

It is yet to be confirmed whether OGN are streaming the Korean stream on Twitch or whether it's exclusively on OGN's TV Network. You could also probably find an afreeca stream of the SpoTV Korean stream. Not sure who their casters are, but last year CPT Jack was one of them.

Who the Korean casters are won't really matter, it's all Korean to me. It's a Tuesday broadcast, so it'll be SPOTV's shitty English cast.

Apparently twitch (ogn) and twitch (spotv) are no longer different. Might want to change the link of spotv to https://www.twitch.tv/lck1 (or delete second link or w/e)

Alright KT, make this quick so I can watch Flash vs Jaedong in 2 hours.

Youtube is in Korean. Is it normal for SPOTV to have Korean PB?

I'm happy with this new way of drafting. It's copied from Dota2 right?
Also: is it possible to do any other way of drafting without compromising on strategic development during?

I believe it's the same style, but not sure it's the same order.

And no, I think dumping all the bans up front will make a clusterfuck of a meta.

KT seems shaky on team play, which is to be expected since none of them were on the same team last season outside of Pawn/Deft.

ROX is doing okay, despite their pick comps not offering them tons of versatility - they just can't snowball fast enough.

Zileas had some outlandishly bullshit reason why they didn't want to do more bans or interwoven bans in 2013, so glad to see Riot is pulling its ass out of its head finally. In general with how poorly dynamic Q performed and some of the public backlash and internal shuffling (overhauling esports team, Lyte donezo), Riot has been much more receptive to incremental improvements and trying things that have worked from other games. Maybe this year we'll finally have a worlds without a garbage format that leads to Gama Bears directly seeded into the bracket or H2K vs ANX.

Also relevant to the series that just played, RIP Longzhu hype lasted all of 1 game this season once again.

afreeca look good O_O

marin and spirit seem to have good synergy and both looking quite clean

also lol that kennen build is actually a thing.. saw it spammed a bit on probuilds but was pretty inconsistently used so wasn't sure if it'd make it to stage. on-hit kennen might be the way to go after ult change

man marin best splitpusher in the game

The BBQ game all the fights had enough movement that it just didn't matter. Them fights were Taliyahs dream fights.

Afreeca vs Samsung was a decent set. In the power rank thread I had them as 4th, just behind Samsung, so I wasn't too surprised that it was a close series. Was surprised how much work Marin was able to do though.

Has there been Baron changes? It seems like there is no reason to not just rush it. Even at 25 mins it only takes like 7 seconds to kill.

Not since 6.9. Most of the quick barons were taken by teams that either had a decent amount of mountain drakes of lineups that excel at taking baron.

Maybe, but it seems so quick now. Maybe just a lot of baron taking champs are popular. In any case, the number of barons taken by teams that are behind/even when the other team has a ward in the pit and reacts immediately is too high. Thats supposed to be suicide.

Kha got buffs to objective taking in his rework that makes him take baron faster and Ryze is vry popular now. Baron was changed a couple patches back to scale in difficulty as time went on. Making an earlier Baron more possible.

Makes sense, it just seems weird to see. "Oh hey the red team is warding dragon, lets rush baron" and then they do, and it works, and they get out with like 1 death for baron.

I think Peanut despite a mediocre score was actually the unsung hero of the game. The 1 for 2 trade in toplane, which also transfered red buff, sat Huni up to completely take over the game. All the vision he put down and presence allowed Faker to sneak in raptors here and there giving him a quite substantial level advantage fast.

Wolf too, didn't they get a kill on ALL his ultimates?

You should just never pick Cass into Faker. I think Riot hard coded that he can't get hit by Cass ult.

Not sure how much stock you can put into Huni after they played Kongdoo, that roster is garbage.

I keep forgetting that League won Valdez after Kespa ditched SC2, fucking hype. Is wolf here somewhere too?

EDIT: why the fuck do we live in a time where support match up is Malz vs Syndra?

Welp, that was very hard for rox given their early game went wrong, but still pretty clean snowballing from skt.

SKT are very lucky that when they're at their "weakest" in terms of team synergy for the first two weeks they play teams expected to be low in the standings.

Week 5, they play Longzhu and Samsung. Week 6 they play KT.

Their biggest advantage is they probably have the coaching to have great practice even without having to play a strong team on stage, so they only have free standings points to gain playing bottom table teams.

Most people pre-ranked SKT/KT/Afreeca/Longzhu in the top 5 and SKT dodges all of them in their opening matches. Given that the playoffs are probably going to be gauntlet again, this gives them a huge advantage. And the top seeds could be separated by just a few points this split.

I do wish they would end gauntlet and move to a seeded 6 team bracket with byes. Or even 4 teams. I like it better to see at least 1 series of each team before the finals.

The only thing I can say in favor of the gauntlet is that it makes a nice positional ranking without having moderate stakes "3rd place" matches. They run through it way too quick for my liking though.

If 3rd place had better worlds gauntlet points I'm sure people would try. In the old format there were 3 seasons so any 3rd place match was fairly useless. However, if we imagine a world where if KT lost in the finals,.+ Samsung won the 3rd place they switch 1-2 in the gauntlet, that would work very well.

I think the gauntlet format was fine in 2015/2016 when there basically wasn't any talent, but now we actually have at least 4 teams where a bracket stage would be pretty interesting (and probably top 6 could all make it competitive tbh).

It's still early. Teams can grow between then and now. Rosters can change between spring and summer.

Not that I mind a SKT dynasty... but it is still early like Gahlo mentioned. SKT this point last year looked really rough and it's not unfathomable for teams to get better and become capable of rivaling SKT 6+ months from now.

I don't doubt we'll have at least two KR teams in the semis again. So it's up in the air who the other 1-2 non KR teams will be for this year.

JAG vs MVP game 3 is one hell of a clown fiesta. So many bad arrows, and so many bad arrow dodges. Maha walked onto a visible trap, Snowflower flashed into an obviously missed arrow, a useless Zed pick, the list goes on...

I love seeing Sion, but I don't want him in a game like this.

Agreed. They had some good, decisive moments such as Pick onto Snowflower by Ian -> Baron, but the rest of the game was just so pointlessly long. It felt like MVP didn't even know their win conditions.

camille - still broken as fuck. Literally went from 0/5 to carrying the fuck out of the team in fights with the dives and stuff.

Also I learned today that camille can EE flash to basically guarantee stun. The counterplay to camille is basically to ban her.

I was trying to play devil's advocate as to why KR teams keep letting Camille through (e.g. "oh, maybe they just want to practice against her, regular season things, etc") but then yeah, I remember this is still pre-nerf Camille. zzz

Only excuse I've seen people come up with is that they let it through for Cuvee, a noted Camille player, and was able to manage it fine. Which I'm willing to jive with if you pick known decent matchups like Mao or Shen, but Renekton and Rumble are kind of silly spots to put yourself in.

yeah in the hands of a competent camille, the champ is just batshit broken

think they really underestimated the strength of the other MVP players. camille got pushed around g2 especially with those rengo ganks but MVP's other players did a good job of holding out in their other lanes and camille eventually got her 2 items -> time to just dick on everyone

I personally find Camille has too many gimmicky interactions that favor her, especially with how her ultimate works, and also the fact you can flash her wall jump for the stun is a just bs, there's absolutely no need for that extra perk. She can force 1vs1 fights to her choosing, and you can't get away when she ults, there's no counter to her ultimate except for 'never get in range' or 'Can 1vs1 Camille' (which is counteracted by the fact she can just run away if she thinks she can't beat you).

On a side note, ADC meta has gotten extremely stale again. We're only seeing Jhin, Varus and Ashe, some people throw in the occasional Ezreal. It was nice seeing a Kog pick this series.

If you have a flip like singed or voli or a friendly Blitzcrank or something you can break her ult, but I'm still flabbergasted by her gap-closing range, it's insane. Not to mention the stun on impact. On a cooldown as low as 6 seconds.

I also dont get why the range on her hook has to be this big. Like 2/3 of that range and it would still be super strong.

Well, the main things camille could do without are sustain vs. non-champs and the invuln frame on ultimate for starters.

There's no reason for her to have the sustain against minions when she already has a shield on passive for trading against champions.

Invuln frame should really just be like aatrox Q, just uninterruptable. CC applies after channel finishes.

I mean yeah, you can eventually nerf her numbers to a point where she's unplayable, but then she's now a useless champ instead of one with clear weaknesses and strengths. Take out the utility in a bloated kit, and then maybe you can balance the numbers more readily.

Definitely can't be too upset by them forcing a really close game 3 on their Blue set. If they pick up Sunday 2-1, it will all go as I expected.

rekt is a bit of an understatement. It's been one of the worst 1v1 losses I've seen from Faker in a long time without him getting ganked, although IIRC pawn did that to him as well in the past, so it's not new.

He came back a lot once he hit level 6 though.

I've never seen him get crushed this hard.

Edit: The fruitless roam from pawn saves it a bit though. Still really bad.

Edit2: And at 14 minutes faker is equal in gold lol.

Feels bad for Huni though, crushing Camille in lane like he should and then Smeb just comes back with random kills and you get ganked and then Smeb picks up more kills while you have to help your team

SKT is always weakest during the regular split. If this is the weakest SKT is going to be, I think we can crown our 2017 Worlds champions now and just save everyone the unnecessary hype that another Korean team might take them down.

One day the KT coaching staff will stop getting enamored with 1 champion it doesn't have to Draft for. Last season it was Draven, this season it's Talon.

I would give MVP more props if they didn't full retard 4v5 in Bot after they were gifted Baron in Game 1.

KT though, I don't even know what to say. Pawn giveth and taketh so many times this series. Also looks like Deft is on tilt in this last game hue.

Edit: ok, the MVP potential is def there. For the "middle pack" teams, I did not expect MVP > Afreeca and Longzhu.

They've been in 4th place for the last 3 weeks, only hanging a single set behind Samsung. I think people are just sleeping on MVP because they don't have the big name of the top 3, ROX, or Afreeca's reputation as the SKT killer. Since starting 1-3 through week 3, they've gone 8-2 in weeks 4-8.

KT's coaching staff will have a lot of work to do over midseason, the roster just doesn't know how it's supposed to work yet.

KT has a classic problem of trying to play around both bot and top. The map is too large to do that, so each game they must pick Smeb or Deft early

MVP has been playing surprisingly well the entire split, all roles playing above (my) expectations beforehand. Except maybe beyond, who was expected to be good.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if they beat SSG in playoffs. It would be an interesting show off between beyond and haru.

Marin had an interesting innovation last night. Goes forbidden idol instead of double doran for lane sustain, then made a redemption 4th item. He was playing gragas but I think it's viable on any mana using tank

Eh i feel like dorans just better. 120health,10mana per passive,30ap,50%more passive mana regen vs 1 extra slot, 10% cdr, builds into item later.

Dorans is just so much better for like the entire early/mid game.

Yeah, he rarely takes over a game and more often than not is the reason they lose. They would have steamrolled game 3 if he didn't get picked before teamfights over and over.

Why is everyone obsessed with Pawn's fuckups? The most important times he died he was doing the thing someone on his team needed to do, but no one was. KT's problem is they need someone to do what pawn is doing, but not on Orianna.

pawn's always been the 'sacrificial feeder' on EDG as well

there were several games where pawn's score looked like straight inting while his team took advantages everywhere else on the map

i didnt watch that particular series but i wouldn't be surprised if it was just like his EDG days. just that no one really watched LPL much.

kt's been pretty disappointing lately tho :/
on the bright side score has been cementing himself as undisputable best jg in the world this season (which he was last season too but not to the vast majority of the public)

On the blitz pick, on review it overperformed massively for a pro game:

+ Show Spoiler +

4:06 The first real fight, blitz has a slight minion advantage. This should never happen. Still a 1-for-1 with Blitz's team using a TP.

7:04 Red Botlane has been pushed in for the last 2 minutes. Appears to be for the foreseeable future.

7:50 Blue Takes Infernal uncontested because red is unable to contest botlane.

9:20 Blitz saves an ambush for red.

10:20 Toplane MVP clowns without Blitz. (This is the biggest swing yet in the game).

14:00 MVP Team is wiped.

19:30 MVP wins a jungle fight bigly.

21:20 Nice Blitz Pull After Arrow to get a pick.

30:00 Lost fight. Good idea. Inhib lost.

33:20 Blitz pull. Ends with a 2v2.

35:40 Red loses Teamfight

.

SSG vs KT hype!

It's interesting to see where the teams stand, both have not looked in top form tbh. To be fair, there is only one team in the world that looks better than both.

Looking at score vs haru especially.

Welp, very few positive points for samsung this game. I don't know how you're supposed to play given lucian is 30 cs behind and loses turret and kennen goes even/loses against rumble.

It was so tragic to see that ssg taking midlane turret imo almost wasn't worth it due to missed cs/exp and 2nd tier turret health

Yeah, but otherwise bot tower goes down, Caitlyn swings mid to play ARAM, and then you have LeBlanc split pushing and good luck dealing with her there while your roaming mid is stuck bot.

I think Samsung fucked up by picking syndra in the first half of the draft. Haru is forced to play around mid heavily.

Cuvee getting exposed in these non-tank matchups. I'd maybe even think about either swapping in ambition for some mental stability or maybe even swap out the bot lane, they've been getting dumpstered in the early game

Should be an easy 3-0 for SKT next weekend, followed by a sweep of MSI. Always nice to have a narrative that other teams are catching up to SKT though.

not really strange
he's only dueling people not really going for the big aoe damage

kt's team are all squishy so in fights you don't even need the hurricane, you just win with your frontline outtanking. just need to survive the small duels vs divers

Before that though, it was hard to call, especially with the 'bad' dragons.

I felt SKT had the trumps going into lategame.

But KT misjudged the fight where they landed arrow onto Lee See and clumped for a giant fish by Fizz which resulted in a massive counter.

Really good game from both sides barring some misplays.

reKT

Edit:

I like how SKT's formula hasn't changed these past few years.

Game 1: Close.
Game 2: Try again.
Game 3: LUL Nope.

KT was so outclassed, damn that was brutal. Pawn was pretty mediocre despite the focus on Faker game 1, and Peanut pressure on bot was so much more effective than Score's. Pretty sure Peanut is going to get MVP for the whole series, he looked fantastic every game, guy really knows how to jungle. And his Lee Sin is starting to collect a record like Faker's old Leblanc, it's honestly perma ban worthy.

if you wanna see the gap sure

otherwise skt just played better. I slept after 2 games but felt it was mostly SKT makes small mistake -> KT gets small gain, KT makes small mistake -> SKT makes big gain. KT is not as good at punishing as SKT is and SKT picked comps that scale better past laning phase. so just a few KT mistakes and its over while some of the SKT mistakes weren't punished as hard.

the series overall felt much less competitive than their regular season series.

Also, wtf is with Mata on Malz? Malz is a pick for shit players. Mata isn't MATA but I didn't think he would allow this.

Yeah, CJ is one of the most tragic stories of a famous team you can find. On the other hand, Ever8 didn't look bad, be interesting to see if they can take down an LCK team to secure a spot, although it seems unlikely.

That Jayce jungle though.

Happy for them, but it was a terrible series, especially that last game. SSol played an abysmal Twitch, those brain dead flanks...
