It might have been luck from gleeb's side, but doublelift deserves criticism for that flash no matter what. The flash itself was not good. He flashed into the wrong direction, and got caught due to the mistake. He should have flashed towards the blue buff, not straight backwards. They are playing against a thresh after all.

Agreed. there was a lot of luck in that dragon hook. I hope CLG takes steps to avoid these single-play losses though. Cleanse or mercurial could have made a big difference since double was rendered useless by hooks

Nien was shit and needed replacing but Seraph has looked no better so far. Sometimes even worse. I guess being a solo queue god on champs like Nida and Yasuo doesn't mean much when it comes to playing meta picks in LCS.

I think the worst part of that last game was that it was so difficult to see if TSM were playing well or if CLG were just playing so badly that they made TSM look pretty decent that game. The biggest examples being those gleeb hooks. I mean those were so clutch in both of the situations(dragon and baron). TSM played well, but the only thing people will take from that game is how horrid CLG played

I think so, athene's nerf pretty much nerfed ryze's biggest counters like syndra and ziggs. Not quite enough to make him some OP mid like aminduck are saying but definitely ryze is a massive beneficiary of this patch indirectly.

Which is strange because he was playing top lane Gragas back in the spring split.
He's an incredibly frustrating player.
They definitely could have split push with him this game as well since Balls had no answer for him, but it's the same as when he was super fed on Jax and refused to just man up and hit the turret down.

He's playing like he wants to be carried. He's not being decisive and is always reacting to what the other top laner is doing. You can't always play like that and expect to win.

His biggest mistake imo was not ulting the wave/C9 when they gave up their mid inhib for free.
That's not a terrible mistake because it wasn't guaranteed to work, but there was at least a chance it forces C9 to back off and gives EG time to get in position.
He just looked like he didn't really know how to use Gragas.

He got freaking towers which he could, he can't kill Renekton anyway.
And it was tank Gragas, not lichbane faceroller by Rock which was oneshotting KTA in Champions.
It was more about displacements which they didn't get sadly, so it was more of a lack of team effort on that than his misplays.

He got freaking towers which he could, he can't kill Renekton anyway. And it was tank Gragas, not lichbane faceroller by Rock which was oneshotting KTA in Champions. It was more about displacements which they didn't get sadly, so it was more of a lack of team effort on that than his misplays.
He almost did kill Renekton though. He 1v1'd Balls and forced him back at less than 1/4 health (while taking basically no damage!) which allowed him to get the one turret he got while splitting. Then he encountered balls pushed up past river with no towers and refused to fight him for unexplained reasons.

You didn't watch Nien last split.... He was giving up kills 1v1 top lane left right and center. There is a reason he got so much flak from the community.
Seraph is only making questionable team fight plays because of the language barrier imo, he is easily the far better player but they need an easier way to communicate with him.

Even his nonJax lanes are much better now that he has jungle presence. Before he would get bloodthirsty and get killed by enemy jungler because no map pressure from anyone. Now that he actually has an actual jungle, when he gets bloodthirsty, he actually gets the 1v1.

You're both right. No stat is going to paint a complete picture of a player. OPS is WAY more accurate than what people used to look at though - avg, runs, rbis are all way more dependent on teammates, match ups, etc. The same way looking at k/d/a in league is pretty pointless because it's so dependent on the other 4 people on your team.
The thing that Billy Beane did really well was combine OPS with stuff like BABIP (did the player make a lot of contact, but hit it at fielders - ie: how unlucky was he?) and use that to find underrated players.
I don't know what the equivalent stats would be in league, they might not have been developed yet. It's also much harder in a game with 5 person teams with parts constantly in motion, opposed to 9 person teams where 1 person hits at a time.

^ she's not good against Twitch because she won't stop his stealth and her ult isn't instant. She's not good against Braum. She gets fucked against Yasuo because of how mobile he is unless she's actually ahead.
She's weaker on competitive because of how bad she is from behind and how volatile she is compared to a very stable jungler like Lee or Elise. She's really bad against anything that singles her out or counter-initiates well or fights against assassins well (HI BRAUM AND LULU).
Thresh fucks her up completely. Morgana makes her much harder to play.
Vi isn't "good versus Twitch". Vi is at best bad currently. Emphasis on "at best".

problem was if CLG decided not to contest that, they should have just left right away instead of hovering around.

Yeah. When Jatt said CLG should have engaged I raised an eyebrow and I was like "Uh... no??" CLG's comp were really reliant on their Ults and positioning to guarantee wiping Dignitas and since they didn't have them fighting into the pit at that angle is a terrible idea. There's no need to take a risk that large which wouldn't have closed out the game. And they were rewarded for it when Dignitas derped trying to take the mid tower, CLG's CDs came up and Dignitas got wrecked.

All of ...that... aside. I feel like pr0lly is a prime example of how individual skill is a really hard thing to measure in LoL. 'Cause that dude makes a lot of plays, but his team is so bad. How much of that result was his fault? How much would his decision making possibly change/improve if he was on a better team, or even, could speak Korean and was on a *much* better team? When he pushes the envelope too far, how much is that lack of skill/ability to make good decisions, how much is it trying to make up for the fact that his team can't play even with his opponent and needs a few breaks to win? How much of that is correctable in a different environment? I'm not saying he's some type of hidden Faker or anything, I'm just curious. It seems pretty easy to identify the weakest/least-likely-to-ever-improve breed (Cop seems like the prototype for this example), but it seems a lot harder to pinpoint others.

Broken, broken single-elimination brackets. Feel bad for Elementz, don't think he would have made LCS but AOE is probably a top 4 NACS team right now.

AOE beat LoLPro in BMC Summer, LoLPro beat them in Coke league. And please, CA? They haven't put up a strong performance yet, think they have like a 30 percent win rate across all Challenger events. CA has a lot of potential but until they get some good wins, I think it's kinda ridiculous to call them top 3. Their top 3 placement in NACS1 was quite lucky and they only got there because they had byes and beat an FFG that had already stopped practicing with Nien.
It's Team 8, Coast and then all the rest are so inconsistent it's hard to call. AOE, Denial, LoLPro, FFG, CA could all win against each other.
