Beyond just improving competition, the meta changes ever so slightly with every patch that it's so hard to remain god-like for extended periods of time. If T1 K wins, it'll be because they damn well earned it by beating top-notch teams.
Yeah they got through groups in a rather sketchy way. But seriously, any one of those 4 teams would be a serious force, if not a favorite, in any other group. And frankly, K and S losing is a surprise only because of how good they HAD been, and we're treating it like they can't lose games without throwing. They can - and other teams are playing damn well.
Meanwhile, KT A is like a mirror of early T1 K. They have absolutely fearsome lanes and finally have strong map pressure and a cohesive team strategy with Kakao, but sometimes their decision making and shotcalling just go full derp.

They're not as bad as some people make it out to be. I don't see them making out of quarterfinals either though. i can acknowledge that frost has become stronger and especially in early game and execution of set strats. but when left to their own improvisational devices, their late game decisionmaking is still very very suspect. even a frost fanboy still should take these flaws seriously and, the substance of my post was to point out that even though the cj team must have known about this problem for a long time, they still could not get swift and co to play differently. this lack of correction is the big problem and i don't see it getting fixed anytime soon.

I like the direction frost is headed they have improved all season and despite swift being a bit of a wildcard is a solid jungle. Coco has had a great year and prolly top 3 mids in Korea right now. I think right now Frost can beat any of the other top 8 but also could lose to any as well. It really depends on how controlled they play.

I agree on everything except that Coco is top 3 mid. Faker - Ggong - Pawn is the correct list atm

See, I would go the other way. I think that SKTT1K's fall off would have been a tragedy for LOL competitive (and a bizzare indictment of Riot, which is otherwise needed) because the fall of such an astounding team would be another strike against LOL giving us the "best" team to win each time.
Granted, T1K sucked in the Arrows series, but if they recover, that shows that it was a blip, if they don't it shows they really fell off/Korea as a whole got better. 2 games on 1 day is really a bad way to "dethrone" a team like that.

kta gets trashed if they go into prolonged laning stage against k. they rely on concentrated pushing early agme to skip that stage of the game.
arrow in particular is and will always be down in cs bigtime in lane

shit that I think happened: -Korea on the whole got better. Other teams are stronger and have better strats/comps, other mids have been able to compete with Faker -More games. Masters + Champions is different than just Champions. At least some teams take Masters seriously. For them that means reduced prep time for Champions -Roster swapping. KTB got gutted, K had to deal with Mandu retiring then unretiring, other teams got boosted. Have KTA/Shield ever looked this good? -KTA is just fucking talented

My predictions:
Ozone 1 : 3 SKT K - I think SKT K is the one team that has a big mental edge over Ozone and I think it will show. That said I may be off on this one as SKT K are not in tip top shape right now.
CJ Frost 1 : 3 Samsung Blue - being an unabashed Frost fan this is hard for me but Blue is a dangerous team and Frost are still getting it together (since getting Coco they definitely look much improved though). Frost absolutely cannot afford to get eliminated in yet another 3-0. For their own pride they must win games even if they fall short. I'm not sure how to rate Blue, they have their moments but aren't terribly consistent.
CJ Blaze 3 : 2 KT Arrows - Blaze have a lot of experience and that could really help them against the Arrows. I'd be surprised if either team 3:0'ed the other. I think this will be the closest series of the quarters.
KT Bullets 1 : 3 Najin Shield - Shield seem really strong right now. KTB have been struggling but they still have some top notch players who can definitely snag a win or two. Shield for their superior consistency.

monte prediction is like him bashing ktb as 'not even top 8 kr' and 'no shot vs gambit' based on a couple games after roster change. obvious overreaction

Agreed, I think SKT K will still beat Ozone. That said, I'm hyped as hell for these games, the bracket turned out really good this time.

Monte is really into Ozone these days and has been hating on SKTK so hard, after just a few games of Champions and Masters. I don't think the discrepancy is as bad as it seems, and I still feel like SKT will beat Ozone in a bo5. All of the players on SKTK have the potential of stepping up and carrying the game, not just Faker. Impact is pretty underrated from Monte's point of view. The guy has sick mechanics, it's just hard to show it on Shyvana and whatnot.

Wouldn't be too hard with Thorin as an echo chamber. Him and Neo got into an argument on Twitter because he was saying SKT K is Faker's team than the rest of the players aren't even actually that good.

Think Ozone has a legitimate shot. Faker owns Dade's number, which leads to a lot of Dade tilting. Ozone should do fine, and they look on form now. Couple that with SKT looking kind of shaky as of recent leads me to believe Ozone can take the series.
I gotta go with Ozone, Blue, Arrows, and Bullets because lol 2 Samsung 2 KT.

Shield is looking really good though, I don't expect KTB to win it at all, especially when you watch the masters of last week...
And yes Pawn is the mid player in Ozone, Dade plays in blue now. He's still very inconsistent it seems. Pawn on the other hand, not really too flashy but very consistent.

They actually disagreed a lot on their predictions, Thorin was pulling for SKT pretty hard.

kespa decided to make sktk/s's voice chat available to the public for k/s group stage match... it's only going to be played once in yongsan stadium on thurs at 4pm kst. that should clarify any "conspiracies"...
kespa has definitely changed...
