well, you saw how quickly fnatic responded to seeing alex separated from the team. the time he was pushing bot, fnatic didnt hesitate, immediately jumping onto the rest of gambit and ripping them apart. granted, trying to BD an inhib might have provoked a more defensive reaction than the bottom inner turret, but i just don't think there was ever a great opportunity to try and take it.
Can't split push with TF if he's your only wave clear. Fnatic knew that they could push in waves way faster on both the other lanes when Alex was split pushing one.

But honestly did anyone else feel like Gambit threw on purpose to give EU #1 and 2 in the B group?

I agree there was definitely not a good time for Gambit/TF to take that inhib. They were pressured hard for a lot of the game, and they lost control of the bottom half of the map so early(when they traded the towers initially). It was still amazing to see how well/controlled Fnatic played here considering many other teams would feel very desperate losing that tower.

I'll be so sad if Ozone could not get into the quarter final
Maybe if we start calling them Samsung instead of Ozone, they'll do better.

Thats hardly convincing.

Something that leaves a somewhat bad taste in my mouth:
Judging from the way they've drafted, it feels like EU on the whole has the best handle on how to play this version--comfortable with the relevant champs/playstyles/etc. This doesn't feel like a coincidence to me when EU Regionals finished earlier than the other regions, and they got the most time to practice the patch.

Alex's TF is just so..bad. Diamond's Xin pick was terrible but it certainly didn't help :\

Royal Club is famous for Support Annie + Fizz Mid picks. They did it in the Qualifiers.
Here's a google search result:

I do notice Gambit's decision making was subpar, but aside from draft the bad calls came after Alex had to pause. He's also their shotcaller, so it might be just that.

She was used a fair bit more in 3.09, but Spirit Visage and Triforce didn't help her as much as other top laners.

Seems legit.
And, couldnt Riot use like some classical music instead of the syth BS? Its not like Mozart and Beethoven are still copyrighted.

All the other regions had their #1 seeded and are only playing the group stages with their #2/#3 teams. EU should be doing better regardless of the patch timing

If a weaker team beats a stronger team once, you can possibly say things like "throw on purpose," but when one team has consistently beaten the other over the course of the last half year, not even dropping a single game, don't even dare suggest that.
