EU tried Fizz at the start but it didn't seem too effective because TF can go on another lane for a bit and fare better than Fizz (even in a 1v2), plus Fizz is more snowball-reliant than Ahri usually, so I'm not too sure that mids able to play Ahri would want to rely on him (in NA) or skew even more their teamcomps to accomodate him (in KR).
Cant take LMS hipsters serious.

of course there is, Fizz is THE biggest tf counter in the game because he can cancel out the goldcard with trollpole and 100-0 him faster than both kassadin and Ahri. Problem is that he gets destroyed 1v2 and doesn't scale as good as Kassadin. Ahri has the pros of waveclearing and safe laning thanks to being ranged and does the job of bursting tf just fine.

In SoloQ I'd always take fizz over both of them cause unlike Kass you can actually do shit pre6 and fizz is fun as hell to play.

That's why I think Ahri is way better than Fizz, not to mention she has the benefit of having fighting power outside of her all-in, also she works well with a poke comp as well.

I think fizz definitely has a place, but when strictly talking about the TF matchup, I think Ahri is better.
