Ugh, the korean spectator is so much better than the NA spectator. Half the time the NA spectator misses half the play where the korean spectator sees the play coming up and catches EVERYTHING. Like, even when dlift was 1v1ing ambition while there was a fight going on at NA's top inhib, he managed to catch ambition's flash-w and go back immediately to the fight.

lol? NA doesn't have a spectator, they use the auto camera director. The only time they go manual is to set up a split push picture in picture or something. But yeah, it's lazy and shit.

They DO have a spectator/observer. It's not directed mode. At least, the last time I checked, they definitely had a dedicated spectator. The guess I have is that for some unknown reason, they changed the observer OR the observer is now tired of doing it. This is the only reason to explain how sloppy it has gotten in the past few weeks/months

Difference between NA and KR: one has a mouse cursor, the other does not. Trust me, it's directed.

I don't know how to explain to you that they do have an observer though. I thought for a long time it was directed mode as well, and I refused to believe otherwise. That was until the person who does the observing posted on twitter on asking for tips to improve. For some reason, I cannot remember his name at all. Also as I mentioned, they might have changed the observer, which is why it's gotten worse in the last few weeks/months

I hope NA realizes how far behind they are compared to the Asian regions. The lack of international competition can definitely breed complacency, so let this be a reality check.

People are actually congratulating NA for not losing every game? They only won against a substandard EU team, one that's not even close to what Gambit or Fnatic are at their best.

Mechanics, need to work so much more on mechanics...

imo, NA players (and perhaps EU as well) need to care less about things like streaming and being community personalities; needa buckle down and start practicing hardcore, much like the way eastern teams do

If a team manages to do this they'll probably become #1 in NA. But I don't know if it'd be worth it in terms of monetary gain.

Like I can't imagine winning NA LCS and getting a spot in worlds can compete with the money that TSM or CLG draw in by being personalities and streaming a lot. And it's unlikely a singular team could become good enough to place highly in worlds if every other team in the region is bad.

People will cite TPA but that was always a stupid example considering that TPA scrims (or at least used to) with Chinese and Korean teams with low ping.

What would really help, and they wouldn't even need to give up streaming and being personalities to do this, would be for a team to suffer through the lag and scrim Koreans. I dunno if Korean teams would even be willing to do it and I doubt many NA teams could arrange it (or would want to due to high ping) but that'd honestly be the best way to improve. Scrim as many Asian teams as you can even with your high ping. Early Koreans did it to scrim with the, at the time, stronger NA and EU teams.

The thing is, if NA had a 6th person behind them calling shots, I legitimately think they could've taken both games off of china because of how insanely well Dlift was playing.

Individually though, apart from bot lane, they NEED to work on decisionmaking, mechanics, and laning.

They need to work on laning. PraY/Madlife was a stronger lane than Double/Xpecial. Madlife is just too good and Pray was able to just play Caitlyn and farm up an advantage both games (although Double did manage to catch back up to Pray in CS so that was encouraging).

Like I think they did really good. Certainly the two best NA players there. Doublelift looked better than any of the other ADCs at this tournament thus far IMO and showed a lot of depth with how many ADCs he played. Xpecial looked great and if God himself wasn't there he probably would've been the best support player of the event. But both still have a lot to improve on.

honestly what your saying is true, Cj blaze and frost when they first got made, tried to look for scrims, and they had a hard time finding scrims back then. Cause Korea was not known at all for LOL. That's why they made Blaze I heard to scrim each other.

Anyway Korea doesn't scrim against Taiwan, and I don't think they even do it with China. CloudTemplar said they have no idea how strong Garena is these days.

and When they were scrimming in shang hai with korean teams the pings were like 120-200 so they got beat a lot.

the pings just doesn't work NA teams would have to go to Korea or something.

I think more international tournaments need to happen. I know it's resource heavy in terms of cost and time. And it also taxes the players themselves because they play a marathon of games over a series of 2-3 days. But it will remove the complacency from the regions, especially the NA because it's the most prone to hype. And who doesn't like watching different metas clash. Would be nice to see the hyperaggressiveness of SGS's early game against EG's slower gameplay.

While more international competitions like Allstars would be exceptionally good, I don't think NA or EU needs to do something differently aside from continuing the current trend started by LCS, i.e. improve regional infrastructure and provide a greater competitive atmosphere for the top teams (and hopefully some more amateur support). The GGU/Vulcun upsets to seize 2nd and 3rd spots for instance in NA is a good sign. A really good sign, considering how far they trailed earlier in the season.

I think it's kind of balanced in the fact that China had to play SEA to make it to finals whereas Korea got to play the team coming from loser's bracket (EU/NA both much weaker teams and both came from loser's bracket so...).

SEA was the highest seeded team in the tournament so it's about as fair as they can make it. I think if they do an All-Stars next year they should consider doing some sort of round robin play or something.
