Comments like this really annoys me when people when NA had the exact same scenario played out with MRN roaring out with very impressive games. I don't see how NA is so far behind EU when the best NA team has proven multiple times to be able to stay even with the best EU team's.

For most of Season 2 and all of Season 3 I generally see a lower level of play in NA compared to EU. And all the games we've seen between the 2 regions for the last while have been somewhat dominated by Europeans (although they haven't been matched up against each other a lot in recent time I still think the skill difference is rather transparent from the few games they did play against each other).

Edit: I was just bitter that there are so many strong EU teams and only 8 could qualify for LCS.

This is like.. AL NA randomly getting into a tourney and advancing from group stages before TSM/CLG.

NA is the weakest scene. Curse has lost vs. everyone. Dignitas can't even qualify for international tourneys.

I wonder why you chose a team that doesn't exist anymore over so many other amateur teams in NA like cloud9 Dirtnap, Curse+Dig B etc :D

Gambit will attend Dallas next week so we will have our NA vs EU and NA vs KOR there.

Also 20k first place tournament for those 4 tier 3 NA teams is a pretty big sum wow.

That really hasn't been true for a while. Yes, NA teams can on occasion take games off EU or Asian teams, but essentially every NA team has a losing record against EU or Asian teams, especially if you look at more current tournament results.

Yeah but Wolves slumping without Bjerg before beating a team like Fnatic (who themselves are in a bit of a slump) and Anexis having a few good games doesn't really prove anything. EU is ahead but it's nowhere near as crazy as some here make it out to be.

I always laugh at how every mistake in NA LCS is "OMG THROWS!" while similar plays in EU are "OMG PLAYS".

I'm guessing Riot did that to give some incentive to non LCS teams. No way MLG is throwing more money at challenger teams than pro teams by themselves.

Do you honestly think any NA team can beat Gambit? when NA has a team that won as many international tourneys we'll talk and beat similar amount of korean teams we'll talk, until then NA is lower tier

NA teams are weaker, sure, but he has a point, the level of disparity between the NA and EU teams isn't as big as a lot of people say. I think Dig could win a BO3 against Gambit. I wouldn't say they are favored, but I think they could do it. Depending on how seriously they take it, Dig and Gambit are playing a show match at MLG Dallas so I guess we'll see how they stack up there.

one of the big reasons Dig might win is that Gambit has to pull out all their new things at IEM, while Dig can hide their best strats vs subpar competition at LCS

If you put the 1-8 of both LCS groups alongside each other and rate them, EU come out ahead but not by that much. Like literally every matchup I'd describe as EU favored, but the NA team could take it out if they play well (CoL vs CW the exception and GGU vs aAa featuring the team we saw in W1 with Shiphtur).

For ease of comparison.

Gambit vs Dig
Fnatic vs Curse
SK vs TSM
EG vs CLG (hell I'd give that one to CLG at the minute)
DB vs MRN
Giants vs Vulcun
aAa vs GGU
CW vs CoL

All speculation but I think aside from GG the best NA teams could definitely match the top EU teams right now.

The top EU and the top NA can reasonably compete. the difference is that the overall base in EU is higher then NA

Can anyone throw out some of the better games from group stages to watch? Haven't been able to catch any of this, no way I can watch anything close to all the VoD's, but would like to peep a few of the better(competitive+entertaining) games).

SKT1 v Anexis is a must watch imo. Easily the best game out of that group.
Go go Alliance.

They can compete, but i'm still mindblown that the NA LCS showed so much 2 towers for both teams within 5 min, simply because no NA teams saw flaws and had the opportunity to disrupt on another, instead of giving +1500 global gold to each other for so so many games..

Why do you say that? I am really excited to see how anexis and M can do against CJ. They beat some pretty good teams yesterday and I bet they put up a good show, even if they lose.
