Wait can curse or dignitas get in now that they've lost all the points from this tournament?

matchfixing and spliting the money

Whoops, misread. Edited my post.

I'm not entirely surprised by this result, honestly the whole thing was not needed at all. Curse nor Dignitas didn't even need to reveal anything for PAX, they could've played champions they played the whole tournament already and not showed a single new thing. This is the result of doing something inappropriate during a finals when Riot is trying to improve their image of a professional competitive scene and MLG being quick on the uptake.
|
Wow. That sucks for Curse, unless I'm mistaken this would have been their first major tournament win and now they don't even get it. Understandable though, this sends a strong message to other teams in the future to keep it professional.

I dont even think aram was the big deal, it was settled before the finals that dig and crs would split the money

Don't worry, these guys are so rich they don't care about a little money lost anyways.
|
Not surprising. Glad riot agreed with MLG's decision.

There is no evidence of there being matchfixing or splitting the money. Just stop all that conspiracy talk. If they were being punished for that they'd get a life ban from mlg just like what they did in smash back in the day. Obviously going aram is just asking for trouble and they shouldn't complain about it.
Seriously, if you do have any real evidence of it being match fixing or splitting the prize money do share it with the rest of us.

And half the people here were telling me I'm a retarded conspiracy theorist when it's clear as hell they were gonna split the money.
"We have determined that there was collusion between the two final teams"
Agreeing to play ARAM is not collusion, otherwise any kind of talk between any teams would also be considered collusion.

yeh but mlg will present stream viewers next week including the ones who watched these "joke" finals.
so hypocritical of mlg to not give out rewards.
riot did well i believe, although afaik it didn't change a thing anyway.

Well if you read in the link, it says the reason behind it is a violation of the rule: "Competitors may not intentionally Forfeit a Game or conspire to manipulate Rankings or Brackets."
I don't think that relates to the ARAM, unless I'm mistaken. I thought that was what it was at first, but it doesn't appear to be that way.

Then they're being stupid, MLG has a history of hating splitting or fixing at all for their tournaments. To think that they could get away with it is foolish and irresponsible of them moving forward into PAX. They've certainly hurt their image which may impact their sponsers in ways that could cost more than whatever they would've split.

LOL, so mlg took their prizemoney away for agreeing to have an ARAM game? Do you know how stupid that sounds? That's like saying in starcraft if 2 people built only marines and zergling mlg could also take their money away. Do you not understand that if they didn't split the money mlg has no authority to take their prize away? They'd get sued.

I honestly thought they wouldn't be dumb enough to actually agree on split money. Guess I was wrong oh well.

How is agreeing to play a certain way in a match with your opponent NOT collusion?

Exactly what they deserved. Match fixing and its variants are not cool. They should be banned from the next mlg season as well.

I guess part of the issue here is Riot's 'Circuit Points' model since neither team cares about the results of this particular tourney, but it really shows the immaturity of the LoL e-sports scene in general. Do any of the other major sports or e-sports get away with this type of thing, or hell, even attempt it? Naniwa says hi. How is this even remotely close to what Naniwa did, this is the finals? In both situations someone really didnt want to play the game since it had no influence on outcomes of the respective tournaments and things beyond so they dont try. IMO what naniwa did was worse since he didnt even try to have fun with it while dig and crs are smiling and laughing about it. Are you serious?Naniwa threw a game that should have never happened in the first place in GROUP play. This is the finals for a decent sum of money. If you think this is even comparable to what naniwa did your pretty fucking dumb. And Naniwas was worse because he didn't try to have fun,WHAT LOL. I bet savior had fun throwing his games so his shit was less troublesome than this. These teams obviously feel that this game never should have happened or they wouldn't be doing this. Splitting the money or not, I don't give a shit whether the 2, or 10, people playing the game try to have fun. I care about the thousands of people that payed for legit competition. If this game isn't important then, yeah, sucks for MLG. They made a mistake. Also the teams did too. Its the same situation. If it were found out that a GSL championship didn't involve money splitting but did involve the two opponents agreeing to certain strategies before-hand there would be outrage. I guarantee fall-out.
Welp. There you go, to everyone who thought this was a funny little joke that had MLG's "blessings" based on the random tweet of some guy employed by the company to man the twitter and keep up the hype.
