Before you ask any questions, check the OP first.
JBright doesn't make an elaborate first post for no reason.

If they're leaving 2 hours between sets, could that mean that a Bo3 is more likely in the Ro8? It would definitely be frustrating if this 'big' tournament was just Bo1's between teams that don't even have their normal rosters.

Ah well, Loci fighting!

I think Curse are improving. DoubleLift seems to be getting better while Lapaka is getting worse but the team really should be close by now. They've been together for a while so they really should be making some head-way. I don't think that Nyjacky or SYDTKO have that wow-factor champion that really scares people. We've seen this trend that players with that super-scary character really change games. If you have one ridiculous character and a bunch of strong ones you're a huge asset to your team (you just have to look at the top sponsored players to see this in action and, also, where it lets people down). This will probably be up to DoubleLift and Liquid to do very well. Dignitas vs Curse should be very very interesting.

Isn't it Nyjacky that plays a god tier Veigar? Like, to a point where teams ban Veigar when they play against Curse?

I don't like SYDTKO much. Pobelter much better imo.

Dignitas wins this tourny. Just from watching their stream, they look incredibly well corrdinated even without Voyboy. Taking games off CLG is no easy thing, even if they are scrims, but doing so while playing Double AP or Standard is even harder.

GL Loci, show them what's up.

You don't ban Veigar, if they pick veigar it will be as a 4th/5th pick if a situation arises where veigar would be good. Otherwise there are quite a few strong counters like Zil, Gragas etc. who either just rape his combo or have the range to just burst him before he can get stun off.

It wasn't streamed but I remember hearing that at MLG Veigar was frequently banned when teams were playing Curse.

I really think TSM will win this since they're the most hungry for a big tournament win. EG/Dignitas/Curse are not at full strength CLG must be tired from traveling so much without practicing (unless they seriously leveled up from playing WE which is unlikely).

I'm afraid (and I hope it doesn't happen) that TSM hunger to win something big will affect their play in a bad way (just like it happened in MLG). Once again, I hope it's just my stupid predictions and they will show us some great play.

I don't remember bans from MLG, but in most recent bo3 Curse VS Dignitas (Rampage "King of the Hill" series) Veigar wasn't a ban or pick. It's very situational champion. In some way he works like Catarina. In specific team comp, versus some champions 4th/5th pick Veigar/Catarina can win games. For example in Curse VS Dignitas (mentioned above) + Show Spoiler +
Scarra demolished Curse with 5th pick Catarina.

At the time of MLG NyJacky was running a lot of Veigar in scrims. It could very well be that teams just knew he could run it and weren't used to seeing Veigar in competitive so they didn't want to deal with it. I know that EG banned it and I think CLG banned Veigar too. (edit: I confirmed via twitter, EG banned Veigar in two games and CLG banned Veigar in at least one game)

And I didn't mean to sound like I was disagreeing with mrgerry earlier. I don't think he's a first pick champ or anything and it might not be a champion that's really worthy of a ban. Just saying that I've seen teams ban NyJacky's Veigar before. But like I said, it could have a lot more to do with just simply not being used to it and thus not wanting to have to deal with it (similar, imo, to CLG banning Twisted Fate when they played WE).

Sure thing, it just shows how bans on tournaments are often based on recent events/meta changes. Maybe Curse with NyJacky on Veigar will dominate one game, and Veigar will be banned on every next game vs Curse in this tournament.

When does this get going, obviously 11am was pushed back, what caused delays?(I know it's an event problem because sc2 just got going literally as I'm typing this as well).

Edit: Update from #IPL3:Comcast backbone is down. We are looking into solutions.Check out @Lani_IGN saving eSports on channel 5- esports.ign.com <-- So that caused delay, now just need to know when LoL will get started.

This.

Pretty big bummer that V8 vs EG isn't going to be streamed, as someone mentioned that's likely going to be the closest set from the ro8. Some of V8's games have looked really good... not sure how much champion depth they have though - phant0mlord is pretty likely to be staring a karthus ban in the face. In their scrims they've been learning new champs etc (Eski has developed a pretty good mid gragas).

Someone said that their team doesn't have much experience, but TreeEskimo (and I think TakashiX - who is a recent addition to V8) were in AoN(I think that was it's name) with Regi and a couple others, and they were actually quite competitive with CLG, there was big drama during the WCG and they got disqualified for it, so they never actually got to face each other... then they split up.

Bummer it won't be streamed, here's hoping there are VODs. TreeEskimo is pretty sick when he's tryharding rather than splitting his concentration on commentary for his stream.
