Solo Tristana is best in mid where it isn't such a big deal that her E pushes the lane constantly.

We've done mid AD Trist extensively for TROLLS already, it's quite good.

I remember Jacky pulling off mid AD trist in a tournament in season 2, when he was contending for best mid NA and Crs was an exciting team.... good times...

Have you guys done AP Varus recently if ever?

He's always been quite interesting, absolutely explodes tanks with upwards of 50% max health damage per proc. Turns his great AOE lockdown ult into a crushing AOE death ult+ snare if anyone survives.

He received a significant buff in the form of the changes to nashors tooth. Much smoother to play now with more consistent auto damage.

his weakness is, as always, his lack of escapes and squishyness comboed with his lack of hard CC and a need to be in auto range for a few seconds. He plays well with Thresh and team shields or heals. Runaans is also not terrible and can end a teamfight solo with a good ult, but probably not a serious item in most cases. His complete lack of viable sustain options is also frustrating.

Important Announcement:

TROLLS is officially on hiatus. It's the end of Season 3, and most people are more interested in achieving their goals in ranked than experimenting. TROLLS will resume when Season 4 and all its glorious and as-of-yet unknown changes roll around.

In commemoration, here's a list of the best and most successful ideas we encountered. Balance and the meta have swept some of them away, but we remember them fondly because they worked.

Tryndamere AP Opening
- Before an unknown Silver player surprised the community by reaching Platinum using AP Tryndamere, Monte theorized that Tryndamere's huge AP-based sustain potential had escaped Riot's notice. Whether building AP or a more standard AD/Crit build, the AP-rune/mastery setup Monte suggested brought mr_tolkien great success, and closely mirrored the FotM setup that would take the community by storm. Nerfed to the ground, it remains the first example of a TROLLS idea that unequivocally worked.
Jungle Nasus
- It seems obvious in retrospect, but few people took notice when Riot buffed Nasus' Q to receive double the bonus when killing large jungle creeps. Monte's experiments with Jungle Nasus were so successful that one of his videos directly resulted in a major bug fix. Now popularized by Diamonprox, Jungle Nasus remains a competitive pick, minus the crit.
Level 1 Jungle Buff Donation
- Some ideas consumed a lot of TROLLS' time, and splitting the team up to take both buffs as they spawned was one of them. Math was done, invasions were planned, and in the end TROLLS was convinced that having an ally arrive in lane with a level and a buff on their opponent was powerful enough to make up for the jungler having only one buff. Lo and behold, come Worlds we saw this in action. Vulcan gave Blue to Karthus, while Elise took Red and then attempted to contest Mineski's Red (unsuccessfully). Mineski might not have been the best team in the group, it proved that even TROLLS' most controversial ideas have a place in competitive play.

There were many other ideas that saw moderate success, but never took off the way the preceding successes did. They are still near and dear to our hearts for the fun times we had.

Important Announcement:

Season 4 is right around the corner and you know what that means! TROLLS will be returning with a vengeance. However, there are two important orders of business to attend to.

First, I need 2-3 volunteers to help me run TROLLS. This whole "getting married" thing is eating up my time.

Second, Fridays are going to be bad for me. I'm thinking of rescheduling TROLLS to Mondays or Tuesdays. I need all of your thoughts on that, and I'll probably post a poll later.

We have at least a couple of weeks before the preseason changes go live. While we're waiting, start throwing around ideas and get excited.
