Or are they /ff out of clearly lost games? If it's in their contract to never surrender games that kinda makes sense when we never see surrenders.

Players refusing to play is not on but management threatening to withhold pay on performance grounds doesn't really sound like a good way to motivate people, justified or not. I can't imagine a situation where management is not at least partially to blame when there's open warfare with players. It should never come to that and if I was Alex Muller I'd have whoever was running that meeting right in my crosshairs.

The flashpoint occurred after SK Gaming told players that it was fining them for poor performances The resulting argument saw support player Seitz kicked from the team, with one source stating he was told “he would never play for SK again.” Some members of the team had been dissatisfied with the organization as far back as the previous split, according to another SK Gaming source. "There has been issues with payments and the players have complained about the team house set-up (...)" For starters, you're doing badly as a team and are almost guaranteed to go to the spring promotion tournament for 2016- some players feel like they're going to get the boot from the team regardless, and everyone's on edge. Then you add in money issues, where you haven't been getting paid what you're owed and there's issues with your living and practice environment. Then on top of not getting paid what you're owed, you're getting fined for poor performances. At this point, the SK players riot, and rightly so. And instead of working through their differences, the management fires nRated, who was the only one on SK who would stand up to the management on the players' behalf. That's more or less the equivalent of a company firing off all of a union's leaders during a labor dispute- a brilliant negotiation move, if your objective is to make your employees livid and shatter all mutual trust with them. After the SK management essentially declared all-out war to its players, the players reciprocated with the only tool they had to hit the organization where it would hurt the most. Is that a mature reaction from the players? Probably not, although we don't have all the facts of the case. Then again, it's unreasonable to expect a group of 20 year olds to be the mature party in this conflict, turn the other cheek and meekly carry on, while the actual grown-ups display such infantile behaviour. SK gaming's players may be playing poorly, but SK gaming's management is managing atrociously.

This is probably a bigger reason why they were fined/salary cut and its understandable. It could also be total bullshit. The players did the "press conference", they even released an interview of nRated the day we learned he was supposedly fired, maybe they wasn't any other plan to do anything else and it's just a convenient way of not looking like fining the team just for poor performances. I would actually be interested to ahve the details about what their contracts asked them to do, and what they refused to do (if they did) but I doubt we'll ever know.

To me this sounds like they want to fine for poor performance, but they know they cannot do this according to the contract. So what they do instead is claim that they failed to satisfy some PR agreements because there is a clause about that in the contracts and no player will go to court over it because it is a very vague clause.

Noone will get fined for being bad at the game though. If there is indeed punishment for "bad performance" then it is likely about not trying to win or refusing to practise.
