Froggen can still farm it out, but his playstyle will always lean towards farm it out and then win late game teamfights. It's been a staple of Froggen's teams since forever. The real reason Rekkles does not mesh with Elements is fairly simple. On Fnatic, his team consisted of Yellowstar (Playmaker), Xpeke (Playmaker), Soaz (Guy who always wants to 1v1 and cries when he gets ganked). So in that sense, you have a team surrounding him that will make the plays in the early to mid game to get an advantage and then funnel the farm into Rekkles so he can carry in the late game.
But now, you have passive mid laner, a jungler who has no idea what to do, a top laner who gets banned out every game, and a passive support. Put that all together and you get teams like KABUM who beat them early on l0l and there's no rebuttal. Teams like SK will lane swap, take a tower, laneswap back with BF vs Pickaxe and then shove your shit in and take more towers. While Rekkles is still farming, SK will be pounding on the mid turret up 2 towers and a dragon at around 10 minutes, and then continue to snowball the lead until Rekkles is finally able to "fight" with his 2 items at like 20-25 minutes. By then, SK will be up numerous towers and someone will jump Rekkles and he'll just run away from the fight while his team is trying to deal damage, but has no AD carry.
Dude EL's goal right now isn't to beat SK, it's to get fucking top3 before Fnatic and UOL leave them behind. Right now almost every western team would pale if you placed them in imaginary game against SK :p
EL would get their shit kicked in by Fnatic with the way they're playing. Even UOL would be a tossup. You cannot play a defensive style these days without any form of aggression, simply because you'll get your shit pushed in by any team that isn't AFK in game. If you watch Elements play, you'll see that they have no idea what they need to be doing, and that's why they get pushed around in game, playing a reactive style, which if you don't have decent warding or anything leaves you open to getting picked a lot, which is what Nyph is doing these days.
So what changed from S4? Because to me it just seems like they didn't change they playstyle and meta didn't change (much), it's just that they are overall worse - worse teamfighting, sloppier map movement and and worse individual performance all around.

all their aggressiveness is gone and replaced with passiveness, tabzz (easily still top4 eu adc) still doesnt have a team.

He was really good vs C9 and did a lot of plays at IEM on Graves/Corki. He can play mid game adc.
I don't think kev1n is a good toplaner but he is still better then wickd. Anyway, changes like this makes it interesting to watch the next elements games. xD
If and only IF their shotcalling (by Nyph) improves, they will do better, else nothing will change. Krepo would've been a way better pickup imho, but things are as they are...
Despite all the flak he's been getting all these years, I don't see how you can read that AMA and have anything other than complete respect for the guy.
He honestly seems like one of the most grounded, sane and mature people in the industry.
