Edit: Moreover it is probably not the best comparison between a usual job and a lcs player. Rather look at traditional sports where you can't just quit and go to another team whenever you feel like doing so. Here most contracts can potentially let the company invoke that clause when you leave them/they fire you, however it also includes a compensation (because you're basically unable to find a decent job since they don't let you work in your field, unless you have other qualifications). So it's something they can do, but they usually skip because it costs them money. In the present case you have to pay them money if you wanna go elsewhere. ![]()

No wait it's dig. Kicking your best player makes 100% sense!

Dig should keep Core/Gamsu, but if they got rid of one (for foreign limits?) then you'd think it would be Core.

Gamsu/CoreJJ Helios Shiphtur/KiWiKid Perfectly fine setup if we need to avoid limits.

So you want to tell me that Gamsu/CoreJJ Helios Shiphtur/KiWiKiD is different from Avalon/Imagine Helios Pobelter/Altec ?

Team is starting three residents [Shiphtur, Kiwi, Azingy], two non-residents [Core, Gamsu], and wants to replace a resident [Azingy] with an exempt non-resident [Helios]. http://na.lolesports.com/articles/interregional-movement-and-expansion-tournament I don't think Helios is very good, but he is way better than Azingy. Plus, I guess it could make sense with the two Korean players. I still don't know why Azingy was ever an option for Dig in the first place.

Bjergsen/Lustboy followed by adding Santorin was a case of 2 exempted non-residents adding 1 more exempted non-residents (all 3 played in either NA LCS or CS by the time the rule was passed, IIRC). TSM was restricted from adding a non-exempt non-resident, so it was either resident or exempted non-resident. Helios followed by Avalon/Imagine was 1 exempt non-resident followed by 2 non-exempt non-resident. Bad wording of the rules here, as the common interpretation was that it shouldn't have been possible. But it seems that with 1 exempt non-resident, you can still add 2 non-exempt (similar with Impulse having XWX, then added Impact/Rush). Gamsu/CoreJJ followed by Helios would be 2 non-exempt non-resident followed by 1 exempt non-resident. Looking at the news article on this here, that's actually explicitly listed as a permissable scenario.

Also is Lustboy really exempt? The rule was introduced before he joined TSM.

Also, I would argue that the initial ambiguity that people had over the Winterfox/Impulse plans is a sign of poor wording of the rule. It shouldn't have been so controversial on first sight.

All he's learning is that people are assholes and will be assholes if given the chance. Seems it's a case of the buyout clause being more like a "suggestion" than an actual clause. Either that or CLG is just full of shit and he can leave if he wants.
