Ashe, Nidalee, and Kassadin were all new, and have also made the picks vs picks + bans debate moot (for the moment). All champions who have been banned have also been picked at one point or another.
The current total for champions picked or banned is now 49 (previously I had accidentally counted Lissandra twice). While it's still possible we won't see more than 6 new champions over the next few weeks, the safer bet at this point is to assume my original prediction will be surpassed.
On that note, I'm curious where people believe the chips will fall.

I'm friends with Sanchez so I can ask him later probably. I think in this case they'd be kicked for loud profanities instead of being enthusiastic
There's different ways to carry out enthusiasm

I don't know any of the players except for the EU ones, for what I know some koreans might play Xerath. He is borderline insane imoimo.
Also, Khazix? Has he been played? Idk how he is faring with the patch changes.
Janna, Urgot?

Reginald can play Xerath, but I don't think he's done it for a while.

Here are all the champions played so far in their respective positions. A champion name in parenthesis indicates that they should not be counted, as they have appeared somewhere else on the list (e.g. Lissandra):
- Top: Kennen, (Lissandra), Malphite, Nasus, Renekton, Rumble, Shen, Shyvana, Singed, Vladimir, Yorick, Zac
- Jungle: Aatrox, Elise, Evelynn, Jarvan, Lee Sin, Nocturne, Vi, Xin Zhao
- Mid: Ahri, Diana, Gragas, Fizz, Jayce, Karthus, Kassadin, Lissandra, Nidalee, Orianna, Ryze, Swain, Twisted Fate, Zed
- ADC: Ashe, Caitlyn, Corki, Ezreal, Kog'maw, Miss Fortune, Tristana, Vayne, Varus
- Support: Fiddlesticks, Leona, Lulu, Nami, Thresh, Sona, Zyra
Feel free to double check. I wouldn't want to miss anything.
From this point on I'll be including bans. If there's an obvious joke ban we can discuss it later.

xPeke could bust out a xerath but I doubt it in a meta of Zed, Ahri, Fizz and all that gapclosing, reviving shit.

No Janna is kinda surprising considering the popularity of diving assassins.

Lee Sin was played top (Minieski vs Vulcun, I think?). Doesn't really matter because he was on the list anyway, but you might want to include him for completeness' sake.
Also, on an unrelated note. Why do pro players start Q on support Zyra? I always thought you level EWQEER and then R>E>W>Q?

E is better in team fights, but Q is better for trades/harass at early levels, before you have the damage to take advantage of the root.

Q plants are ranged and so are easier to trade with in lane.
Also, in either case you should be maxing both nukes, not leaving Q for last. Base damage on a support is still good even if you're not scaling it through items.

Zyra and Sona are simply too good. Very strong in lane, insane dmg early already while janna just sits there doing nothing significant.
Also surprised that we haven't seen a Blitzcrank yet.

I am expecting a few surprise picks later on thats for sure

Zyra basically does the same thing Janna does but better. Got better disengage with her ulti. Got better damage. Got better CC. What situations would you prefer a Janna over a Zyra?

Clearly you haven't seen a Janna properly played, I can guarantee you, you don't just sit there and do nothing.

Yeah, despite it being League of Corki, at least we are seeing more than 3 ADCs
