Kind of, basically one friend got me into League, then I met some of her friends through playing.
On another side, when I picked up League I realized one of my other friends was into it, and I met some of his friends through that way.
Then I shall combine the two for horrible social results. Wish me luck.
I'm also introverted, which makes this story even better.

You don't need the number to buy the tickets, just to get on the plane.

If you're wondering about budget, hostel+food+misc is about $150 a day. Say you stay 2 days that's $300. And depending on where you're traveling from it'd be $400 to $800 total for the trip for someone living in the states. Airfare is honestly the biggest thing to consider because there's no way to make it cheaper. So I suggest you start looking for cheap flights ASAP.

I'll see if I can trim that down some.
I also think Cael's 150$ a day guess is on the high side. I think 100$ a day is more realistic.
Assuming 40$ a day for the actual ticket to the event and about 30$ a day for the hostel, you're talking 30$ a day for subway fare + food, which is easily doable. You can probably do less than 30$ a day if you want to be eating PB&J sandwiches 3 meals a day.

I was ready to go at 12pm, apparently some waiting room thing came up at 11:30am which nobody knew about, so all of the floor seats were gone before they even officially went on sale. I go to buy some of the $75 tickets, keep getting "unavailable" errors even though it let me highlight them, and then kicks me out after a minute because I didn't pick fast enough? Back to the end of the waiting room line, get in again, error. Get kicked out, get in again, all sold out except split-seat nosebleeds.
Here's to hoping that they either add more tickets, or the stubhub assholes lower their prices a bit.

I believe Staples is roughly 18k in concert-like setup, which is what they will be using for obvious reasons.

ok I edited the OP. Most likely I'm staying at some hotel in downtown LA, so I'll be bussing or walking. There's a slim chance I can crash with a friend of a friend at USC, which is right next to the Galen Center. I don't know exactly which teams are going to be in attendance at the event, but we'll probably be able to hang out with some pros.

That'll probably limit our options to meeting and eating somewhere on the USC campus since it's expensive to actually park downtown. I'll only be attending the Saturday semi-final as well.
(I'll actually be going on vacation on the night of worlds, leaving on a midnight flight to Japan.)

Alright...
So Friday, dinner/late eats after the match? If it's BO5 I can imagine you guys not getting out till midnight though and you guys might be tired.
If it's before the match I can probably get to downtown at 6PM and I have a car that seats 4 more, but that might be cutting it close.
Saturday I have some morning chores so I'm looking to get there around 10:15/10:30. I can bring some donuts because I need to pick up my friend who lives next to this really good donut store. I'll still have my car but only room for one so post-game eats might be a little harder to schedule.
If you feel comfortable you can PM your contact info to me or Feng, I guess we'll be the ones to set this up?

I'm going to try to get to the venue as early as possible on Friday afternoon to pick my tickets and talk to people (if they let me in). It's hard to organize anything ahead of time for Friday night I think. Why don't we aim to have a TL meet up on Saturday morning (with Joe's donuts) and then hang out and makes plans as we go after the games on Saturday?

I would definitely down for a TL meetup or dinner after the finals and on Saturday. I'm flying in from NYC alone on Friday and will be staying until Monday morning. First time in LA and I haven't done too much research on what there is to do in LA yet.

I will be at Finals, will probably head to Staples Center by 6:30.
I will check to see if my TL shirt is clean; I wore it both days at Semis.

i'll be at the area around staples by 3pm, will be loitering around for 5 hours with nothing to do, so someone come hang out with me and entertain me :D

I was yelping before the trip and the moochi place was already on my list. I remembering going to Japan town in san Francisco and they had this amazing moochi place too.
Let me know what the dinner plans are tonight after the finals. I'm starving!
