I honestly really do wonder at this point if LCS Playoffs can compete with this---the ability to watch ingame REALLY seems to boost the numbers. I want to go back and actually read the PX v whoever conversation people were having about this, but it might be a pain in the ass to find.
There is no point in comparing a regional finals with the DOTA2 World Championship.
The S3 finals will draw outrageous numbers as well - just hope Twitch.tv can survive 400k+ people trying to watch.
Lastly...who cares? Who cares if LoL gets 800k viewers but DOTA2 gets 801k viewers?

Finally, we need threads about this.

There is some overlap between the 2, heck im watching the stream when there between the games and watching ingame when it starts (less lag that way).
But yes being able to watch in game is huge. Its probably the biggest point in which LoL is behind Dota. Spectating tournament games and replays.

Lastly...who cares? Who cares if LoL gets 800k viewers but DOTA2 gets 801k viewers? Because it's interesting. I don't think LoL is dying or one of the two games needs to 'win,' it just interests me how the viewership numbers will work and why. I am 100% of the opinion that people can watch/enjoy what they wish without hating on anything else. Personally, I'm shit bad at DotA and the burden of knowledge is probably too massive for me to bother picking it up at this point, but I do enjoy watching it from time to time. I'm less shit bad at LoL and enjoy watching it more. Edit:
I wasn't aware TI discussion was taking place in there. Sorry.

Neo specifically said earlier in this thread he didn't mind TI3 discussion here. Just saying.

Is it just me or why has there been so much QQ and BM in ranked games the last few days? So many people want to flame and call gg when its 0-3.

I will eat my hat if the S3 finals doesnt destroy TI3 in numbers.

We'll never get 'real' numbers on either tournament.
TI3 has: Ingame viewers (count unknown) Twitch viewers (count known but unknown overlap with other ways of viewing) TV viewers in various countries (we may get numbers from them, but maybe not) Other viewing methods?
S3 finals will have Twitch viewers Youtube viewers TV viewers across China/Korea/elsewhere Whatever other methods RIOT will have of showing the finals
There is no way to get an accurate count - both sides will trumpet xxx million viewers and xxx thousand concurrents but we'll have no way of confirming the numbers. Thus it's stupid to even speculate - we'll never get the real numbers, we'll only get inflated numbers from both Valve and RIOT that will be used for PR purposes.
But that won't stop either side of the LoL vs. DOTA2 debate from claiming 'their side' has the upper hand, so w/e.
Just enjoy the games.

#hellisatthetopofsilverqueue Since I've been playing, ranked has largely been lovely. People seem to understand objective based play now. I don't get shit as adc/sup if I come up to mid after taking my tower and pressuring mid tower.

#hellisatthetopofsilverqueue im silver 1 and the past few days have been truly horrifying.
bronze had better, and more polite players.

The international is only over 4 days with shitty online qualifiers and little else. s3 worlds is over weeks and weeks of regional qualifiers the lcs circut and then the coming weeks of the finals in galen arena and then the staples center.
clearly having less then half the numbers of even the most conservative s2 worlds numbers for the finals means that dota is killing lol.

We have a QQ thread. Vent there, you'll feel better.

What defines killing an esport anyway
NBA gets more views than MLB, did basketball kill baseball?

Bronze players know, and accept they're bad. Silver players think they're allstars because they're not in the lowest league.

Playing ranked in silver is so relaxing, I just pick someone that looks fun and yolo blaze it

I probably shouldn't respond to this, But I haven't seen TI3 below 400k viewers on twitch+client total the whole time.and 780k first day, no idea at all about korean/swedish tv/chinese viewer numbers though.

It will be like last year all over again. People are going to be like, WOW International was extremely cool, and I mean it, Riot's gonna have a tought time one upping that.
And then riot will 1a2a3a with bazillions of viewers and we can have the "stream is active inside the client" bs and all the mad all over again
glorious

I never got the point of the comparitive viewer discussions. Like, do some people here think it is bad if some other game has a lot of viewers? I thought this thinking was a sc2 thing.
