They fixed that, now when this happens it appears to track the actual number of points you're down in the promo series and put you there. So you can win 2 and then lose 3 and you're 1 win away from hitting the promo series again instead of 2-3. However, when you win a promo series, you're still only put at 0 points in the next division. Which is still pretty arbitrary and dumb. I can get to 97 points, win a game, then go 3-0 in a promo series, and I've basically won 4 games to get 3 LP. Unsurprising that my MMR to LP ratio is so screwy after that that I start getting 30+ points for wins. Really silly that the system has to try to correct problems that it causes itself. Unless you desperately need mana Morellos is so cheap for what it gives and still gives good mana regen (just not as good as chalice). 2200 gold for 20% CDR and 75 AP is fucking nuts. Then throw in that you get mana regen, a nice passive, and it has a ridiculously good build path (you can start faerie+pots/wards then get codex and finish up with a kage's to generate gold for you before you finish it or get early kage's if you just wanna farm/don't need the early CDR). Probably the most underrated item in the game right now. | ||

Completely confident that Ori and Lux could both go Morellos over Athenes if the enemy laner has light kill threat or they're against an AD mid. The passive is nice but even without the passive that item sets up a really strong mid game because of how much CDR and AP it gives for its price. If you're playing a mid who doesn't need to be tanky due to their range (Lux, Ori, Syndra, Xerath, Ziggs), against a team that's solely running AP damage in the mid lane, and if your opponent isn't gonna try to all-in you (so like Diana...maybe Akali/Katarina) I honestly don't know why you'd buy Athenes over Morellos. There are very few truly mana hungry champions in this game and if you don't need the MR Morellos gives you better stats for less gold. edit: Syndra might be a stretch, I don't have as much play time with her and when I have played her I remember her really needing mana regen. I could've just been bad though. Also yeah, there are probably more situations when you'd want athenes over morello but I don't think people accurately judge when those situations occur. Combine that with how comfortable people have become building chalice every game and I don't know if many players really assess their item build in a game by game scenario. I feel like most people just build the same items every game without giving it a second thought. There are situations where morellos>chalice but lots of people just default to what they know/what they're comfortable with. | ||
