It was just that people were pretty bad/stupid back then and didn't realize how badly MBR scaled. In fact, MBR has only ever been nerfed to lower it's AD from 40 to 30, back to 40. The % health portion of the proc has only ever been buffed. It was only ever popular because people didn't realize how awful it was, especially when compared to other standalone dps items like Wit's (before and after remake) and Triforce 'cause people severely underestimated the strength and cost-effectiveness of the latter two. | ||

From what I saw, apart from that baron fight where WE got kited, they had much better teamfight plays than TPA that game. WE actually began the game facechecking into an Udyr stun and Ahri charm and came out of it 1-2 when I thought they'd go 0-4. To summarise the game for people who tuned in later, WE made huge early plays from seemingly disadvantageous positions and counter ganks to come out with a kill lead, but lilballz's early gold lead from the level 1 skirmish and amazing jungle skills gave TPA complete map, buff and dragon control even when WE was 8-3. WE was winning all the early-to-mid teamfights with great plays by Misaya (Karthus) and Wx (Urgot), but TPA kept up in gold by grouping and taking down turrets fast and Tristana split-pushing bot. Two baron fights ensue with a 0-2 for WE where Janna got caught in the back and Karthus got beautifully kited by Tristana jump and Ahri ult in the first and a close win for WE in the second to take baron and give them the advantage to slow push for the win. Edit: I recommend game 2 for the Karthus and Urgot plays and for Udyr's jungle pressure vs a slow jungler. | ||
