Kennen seems to be a bit of a ultimate first pick. Viable (strong even) in all 3 lanes; able to decourage quite a few picks for top/mid; able to bait counterable heroes that are intended to 1v1 vs kennen (like karthus ^^)

Apart from the runes, that is pretty much par for the course on NA. You need to spend $10 USD to be able to afford a champion or a skin (although you will end up with a bit left over). Skins go from about $15-20 USD to $5.
So ya, the only thing that is REALLY different is the fact they screw you over for rune pages.

Well, if you compare it the income people make in NA and CN. The price on CN is ridiculous. I mean you can get a meal here for one person for like $3(in big city like Shanghai or Beijing, will be much less elsewhere in China). Students that just graduated college make like $400~$500(again in big city).
