What? It's a scrim and their morale is low at the moment. That's the incumbent MLG champions you are talking about. Not a real competetive eSports team. Real.

What? To be fair, M5 is pretty unknown. I'd put them with Sypher as pretty good EU teams that don't get much recognition outside of EU.

how can a team that famous for nunu ult trolling be completely unknown

First of all the word BASICALLY, second even in this thread there were people asking who M5 is

there are people in this thread asking for which runes to run and basic lane counters. just because people are asking doesnt mean something isnt widely known by others

Ridiculous. They have the reputation of being the best EU team, together with aaa.

Them being not known by American stream watchers doesnt make them bad, obviously.

And yes, they were the clear favorites against TSM.

Sigh, what are you people even talking about? There was ZERO mentioning of M5 being bad. M5 simply doesn't have any international recognition yet.

After watching the scrims, I have newfound respect for M5. But not sure how you can say they are a clear favorite vs a team who consistently places in international tournaments. -_-

From a NA player's standpoint (talking about myself here), M5 is an unknown team. I might have an idea of their players and what roles they play but certainly not familar enough with them to know what their forte champions are.

I play on EUW and I dont even know any of the EU teams other than the teams I've seen at dreamhack.

They are though o_O.
As someone who doesn't pay attention to the EU scene that much. Empire always comes as a top team when I think about EU teams. Like, whenever I read Reddit or any other small LoL news there's a lot about them. ie their scrim scores.

Also, they beat SK in IEM Kiev qualifiers basically flat out trolling.

They picked Ashe with Revive Flash or something, and then Ashe randomly suicided to Golems to revive and run back to lane. And they won the game with a kill score of like 20-3. This game was the one that started the EMPIREEEEEE from TSM.

In the EU pro scene "empire" has also become a meme, if not a description of a strategy. "Lets empire them!" etc.

not scrims.

They literally picked revive Ashe in IEM Kiev qualifiers against SK and won.

Guys, we are currently in a really bad state, we need to realize this, stop derping, take shit seriously, practice as much as possible as 5 and become god tier.

Not literally, but pretty much what he was putting across.

That ashe was not trolling, the commentator actually said that the AD carry player(the ashe) runs that pretty often and does well with it.. They may have beat SK with something crazy - I do not think they weren't aiming for the win, though. They were serious.
