Instead of: CLG (#1 Seed) v WHALE (#8 Seed), TSM (#2 Seed) v Epik Gaming (#7 Seed)
It's now: CLG (#1 Seed) v Epik Gaming (#7 Seed), TSM (#2 Seed) v WHALE (#8 Seed)
CLG is upset because of the sudden rule changes that undermine the integrity of the tournament, especially because Dreamhack Rules is that you can only have a 5 player team so CLG has to bench someone for the entire of Dreamhack from what I understand. Especially as this was a last minute change with no contact with Marcou and the E-Sports Team. Also doesn't stop a potential EG v TSM at Dreamhack itself. There's also no proof of EG wanting to throw in the first place.

But isn't smurfing 10 accounts to level 5 for a 3150 IP champion a bit useless? I mean, if you play the amount of games required to do so on your own account, surely, you'll have gotten more IP by the end of it? You get a 6300 IP champion, or more accurately, 975 RP that you can also use on skins or anything else. In addition, you get 40 per-win IP bonuses, which are about 150 IP each which is another 6000 IP. Getting to lvl 5 requires only 5-6 wins depending on game lenght, or if you lose a bit you can get lvl 5 with a record like 4-3 as well. Wtf, really? Do they ip check to see if you refered yourself? Riot has measures to check if you're massing smurfs for referrals bonuses. I can't confirm how the details of the fraud checking measures work for obvious reasons, but for the most part, the CS only take action against really big offenders and smurfing through deception so I doubt you'd get banned if you made a very small number. But don't quote me on this; upcoming rules changes might be retroactive.
I do know of bans before, but generally they were for serious offenders. Not sure if they've ever taken away RP or whatever from your account.

Sooooooo. Someone explain why marcou still has a job?

Obviously because he does his job so well and all. Just like all the people who work at my college. =)

HOW IS TL DOING VS JPAK!!!
|
Jpak real cool team. They get smurfs and kick Jpak (who was 1400) 2 games from the tourney being over. We lost game 1 pretty badly, game 2 should be better. It's weird that they would get a good team at the very end of the tourney with literally 0 chance of them placing top 6.

HotshotGG should be banned already like Reginald last year...for being bad manner or rasist against Koreans. HotshotGG already received alot special treatment from Riot, why make big drama of this shit.
i'm not saying Riot is doing a good job, but being a "professional" player, your job a playing games, not to be a drama queen, if you got problem, just contact Riot privately.

I'm not sure Riot could justify banning Hotshot from their game for out-of-game actions.

The best part is Riot's response.
Our response to the conflict of interest presented to us was not a kneejerk reaction; we considered input from teams and debated choices between Marcou and myself. We could not ban a team based on speculation and switching the #7 and #8 seed presented what we consider the best option.
Dreamhack qualifiers represent those that are at the pinnacle of skill in their region. Seeding is a matter of perception and regardless of seed a team must prove they are a top three team to attend the finals; this includes who they play in the first round.
We stand by our seeding but acknowledge your concern, again this decision has nothing to do with TSM or CLG, integrity in eSports is a paramount concern.
How can seeding be a matter of perception?
Riot thinks TSM is colluding with EG. Solution? Reward TSM, punish CLG; invalidate the entire season circuit. :/

Because Dyrus doesn't realize there are some things he probably shouldn't stream LOL... he just streams like all his private team business and other weird shit =/ It was said on his stream that they would get Westrice if they threw their first game (right?)

Negative ghostrider. They believe they COULD collude. That is all.

This is one of the sillier rulings I have ever seen.
This would be like MLG thinking Ret and Tyler might collude in the group stages so they put them in different groups. This giving Liquid and even better shot at making the finals because of the lesser chance of a team kill.
I do not understand this logic at all by Riot. Once again, I'm thinking their 'esports' divsion is really lacking.

He tried contacting them for 3 days and only got one response from numerous contacts. That one contact told him to contact someone else. This is the most absurd thing I ever witness in my esport viewing career. How can you change a bracket seed team over "suspicion"
|
"Because the #7 team EG is actually considered to be top 4 containing an all-star team of solo que players in the very top of the ranks. They in the last week or so were destroying #2 TSM in scrims that many of us witnessed. They had lower qualifying points because they really didn't do anything until the very end of the season.
WHALE who is seeded #8 is actually NOT EVEN COMPETITIVE anymore at all and basically not really a top 8 team at all. In fact they aren't even really a team at this point but qualified for the tournament anyways because of earlier qualifying.
So CLG earned #1 seeding and got lucky with the draw of WHALE as #8. Whereas #2 TSM was set to have to play against #7 EG (who is really a top 4 team that has recently dominated scrims against TSM)
TSM and EG each have a Dinh brother on their team and supposedly RIOT got a report of "rumors" that EG was going to throw their first game for TSM because of the brother connection.
So instead of RIOT warning TSM and EG, and the brothers, that cheating and intentional game throwing will not be tolerated and be disqualifiable, they instead moved WHALE to seed #7 and EG to seed #8. Thus CLG has now moved from a first game gimme to a MUCH HARDER first game against EG. TSM (involved in apparent rumor of collusion) now gets the gimme game against WHALE.
BUT THERE'S MORE. The top half of the bracket now contains 3 of whats considered to be the top 4 teams (CLG, EG, Rock Solid) and TSM in the bottom half of the bracket now has to play none of the considered top 4 teams until the very final rounds.
RIOT wants to talk about integrity, respect, and professionalism in this tournament. But since when have you ever seen established seeded brackets switched around on "rumors" and now those brackets seem to HEAVILY FAVOR one of the teams (TSM) that was involved in the "rumors" of cheating and collusion.
SOMETHING IS FISHY" great post from the LoL forum
|
From what I've heard, it's not fishy. It's just Riot being super duper extra special incompetent.
Somebody should compile a comprehensive list of Marcou's contributions to Riot.
|
Where is the list of all top 8 teams? Couldn't find it.
As for Marcou, well, I wish I had his job. Easiest job in the world.
