There are millions of people who've already invested a lot time and money in either League of Legends or DOTA2 and I don't see those people switching any time soon. It's just as futile as 99.9% of all MMORPGs that tried to compete with World of Warcraft the past decade: they were popular for a few weeks, maybe a few months but in the end people just stuck to World of Warcraft. In a free to play market, especially one as popular as it currently is there's definitely room to find a niche. Sure if they'll try to compete with valve and riot and push it as an esport they'll probably fail but I don't think they need or will do that (unless it happens naturally). Even if the Blizzard brand is somewhat tarnished today, if anyone can do it it's them.

The only thing wrong about this, is that it is an effing MOBA, but there are evidently metric tons of people who enjoy that genre, so, good move All they announced is the name, and it's a crappy name.

It doesnt matter that its a saturated market. I am pretty sure that 90% of the people interested in playing mobas will try this game if its free to play. And if blizzard doesnt completely fail with the gameplay there will be lots of people who will play this, just to play with Kerrigan/ some warcraft dudes (haha didnt play any warcraft at all :D), etc. You cant compare some nonames who wanted to compete with WoW, we are talking about blizzard here.

Dustin Browder is like the leader with passion, David Kim is the Asian kid that does the numbers. And the 3rd person is Browder's nerd girlfriend who does nothing but is like, on board. Then when you need animation done "hey, let's call that dude who does those cool cartoony things, huh David?" "Right on Dustin! That'll rock!" And Dustin's girlfriend laughs thru her noise making the weird sound while chewing on a slice of pizza, because she's too lazy to even cook something. Wait, hold on... I don't understand this forum anymore. In one thread blizzard isn't doing enough for the scene. In another thread, blizzard are amateurs for providing work to the community? You don't have to like the cartoon style, but this isn't an amateur move. Art is dependent on the viewer, I think Carbot's animation style is amazing and definitely television caliber. They're clearly well-versed in the fundamentals of animation that have been making Disney millions since the 20's. This is, in fact, a brilliant move showing that they care about some aspects of the community (that community being blizzard game fans). They're saying "hey, if you work hard and do a good job, we would love to give you opportunities". I don't know if Carbot got paid to do this, but the amount of exposure they're going to get transcends the usual starcraft crowd they were previously targeting.

There's an entire section devoted to Heroes of the Storm right next to the SC2 section. If I had to make any assumptions based off of that, I'd say the game is pretty close to entering beta. Either way, we'll be getting more detailed info about Blizzard All-Stars (I really did prefer that name over Heroes of the Storm) at Blizzcon. I'll be there, so I am excited about that.

Congrats to Carbot, but I personally would've preferred a more... "serious" kind of announcement.
