While commoners might be brain-washed enough to follow him without questions, those with high political positions (such as his sub-coordinates) are most likely well-educated and knows what the fuck they are doing - and what they shouldn't do. At the end if Kim Jong Il wants to do something major it has to be passed to his sub-coordinates, and I doubt they will listen to a dying person.

While that is mostly true, you gotta realize back in the old ancients days in a system of monarchy, emperors and all where it is somewhat similar to North Korea's state atm, all the people, even his sub-coordinates, subjects and all alike were super loyal and would do anything and everything their leader would tell them to do even committing suicide. Who and what is to say that the case isn't similar here with Kim Jong il and his sub-coordinates?? If anything, I can see calling himself and everyone around him "Emperor".

I agree with your analogy of "Emperor", and I used that terminology as well. But you have to also understand this is not the ancient time anymore, where technology allows people to go everywhere very easily. Think about it this way. Suppose you are a North Korea diplomat on foreign affairs. While you have probably been loyal to the regime, but due to your position you have to go out and see the world - South Korea, Japan, and China - and suddenly you realize you had lived your life in a crap-hole. How will you feel about the regime now? Surely, for those never gone outside of their villages, they may think North Korea is the best country in the world. But it is certain that many people who have exposures of the foreign world will think differently about the life they are having now and the life they could be having. Of couse they may not express such things openly unless absolutely needed, but I highly doubt everything will be followed through.

I doubt it's "para-", since it is government funded and the only military force (probably) in North Korea. Are you thinking about conscription instead? I don't think they are the same.
