Likes: - free university system, allowing you to make many choices - no prestige attached to certain universities, no ranking of any sorts - no pressure to finish your degree as fast as you can, people focus more on self development - relatively open and tolerant society - beer - clean cities, low crime rate - good public transport system - social security - lots of green areas in cities, beautiful scenery in the countryside/alps
Dislikes: - boring - nightlife is just crap - germans have no fashion sense whatsoever - stores close at 20:00, closed on sundays - food is okay but no variety - german music sucks - german entertainment/TV is the worst - trying to americanize the university system
Korea
Likes: - amazing nightlife - amazing food - passionate, hard-working people - good sense of fashion (compared to germany at least) - family values, respect for parents (as long as it doesn't get abused by parents) - pretty girls
Dislikes: - if you're not a pretty girl, you're pretty much screwed for life. (resulting in plastic surgery galore) - it's all about image, not actual skill - people going crazy about what university you attend, what degree you have - many taboos - people working hard but often horribly inefficient - two-facedness in many areas, especially sex morals - archaic junior/senior system, which gets abused a lot - people focus on money too much - the way the entertainment industry and the netizens treat their 'stars' - everything feels very confined, no real freedom to make many choices, you live your life according to the plan laid out by society
there's more but i think that's enough for now

Yeah I'm pretty sure that's the cause, I've heard there's a large sitting alone in your house drinking vodka because it's fucking freezing outside culture.

Uhm, we're an archipelago, and it's fucking our StarCraft community real good. If we were one island it would be so easy to organize meet ups, and it's really painful that most of the good players here are from the southern islands..:|
Weather's fucked up too, I think the sky wants to rain but it's summer so it doesn't rain. God I can already feel the heavy storms in July/August....

I like the food here ^^ I like the studentlife here
I dislike all the conflicts between north and south but ah well, they've always been there so... can't think of something else :p

its not darker there, the light is just distributed in different ratios like, during winter, its really dark, but during summer its really bright
I'd trade a norwegian winter for many other winters, but a norwegian summer beats any other. =P

Dude, your Summers are cold :p

Yes we actually do that. Its combined with a sauna too. We go from sauna to swim and back and forth Good for your health. -The fact that we are so badass we didnt lose to russia. -Free health care. -High standards of living. -Free school, and free food and books in school. I like it though but it is very plain usually. -Many people are stupid fat beer drinking racists etc. Much like rednecks would be for americans.
These are almost exactly my thoughts. Just couple things to correct:
The food is not boring, imho it depends where you live (south/north) what kind of food you eat. It's up to yourself that is the food boring or not ^^
I'm not racist, but too many of the immigrants are actually very rude and breaks the law, that's why there are those "fat beer drinking racists". It's bad thing for those immigrants that actually are hard working and very polite

like: a lot of cultural freedom. you can be whoever you want to be here because theres about a million different cultures and a pretty good social climate to operate, tolerance is promoted etc. good weather most of the time and generally people are pretty friendly and outgoing. we have pretty high standard of living which is so easy to take for granted, also theres access to many of the worlds cultures due to immigrant populations so you can get lots of awesome food. AFL is the world's greatest sport. tbh the things i like about australia way outweigh the bad and i could go on forever but who wants to hear about that?
dislike: lack of cultural identity and the flipside of people taking it too far like the dumbasses you hear about in the cronulla riots. sometimes i think it'd be cool to live in a country where theres a greater sense of singular culture like places in europe and asia where you know your ancestors lived in the same spot for 1000s of years. its tough to get patriotic about australia as a whole for me even though theres a lot of great things about this country, mostly because its really multicultural and a super young country, seriously australian history is probably the worlds most boring subject
kinda makes it tough with global english media, we're becoming more and more USA's little brother in terms of culture and that's lame because australian culture is cool but lots of people in the big cities don't get behind it and just do whatever people in UK/USA are doing
also australian infrastructure and social support is on the decline due to retarded politicians, more public services being privatized and public transport is getting fucked up, socially it seems like we are getting more conservative which isn't a good idea for australia speciafically. crappy planning policies too.
i think australia's stock is falling tbh due to dumbass leadership but i'll still probably live here my whole life. there's always a place for anyone in australia no matter what which is why it's cool. also every foreigner i've met goes on about how great this place is so go us!

But yeah, it's kinda dark here, that must be why there are so many depressed people here.

France:
I like :
- FOOD : best in the world. I really like Italian and all kinds of Asian food, but French cuisine is just another level.
- Wine : No wine in the world compares too a great Bordeaux red wine. Even though South America, Australia, and New Zealand are improving fast, France is still way ahead.
- Nature : mountains, sea, country... We have everything. Even if it really depends on where you live. I personnally live 2h from the best ski resorts in the French Alps and 30 mins away from the sea.
- Health coverage : Pretty good, even though I guess it is not as good as in Scandinavian countries. But way better than in UK or the US.
- Cultural heritage : thinkers, scientists, etc... And lots of monuments, museums... Some countries like Germany and Italy and probably Japan beat us at that anyway.
I dislike :
- People are selfish, self-centered and narrow-minded
- Racism is everywhere
- Our political leaders are really, really lousy. Maybe 2-3 of them really care about public interest. All the others are just hungry for power. Our President (Sarkozy) is the worst in Europe and probably beyond.
- Public transports are lame
- Environmental consciousness is a joke here
- Our cities are dirty, except for a few touristic areas. We are probably #1 for density of dog turds on pavements
- Insecurity in some neighborhoods in all big cities
- Everything that protects the average citizen from big corporations is being dismantled (Sarkozy's work, again).
- Shitty school system
- The country is ruled by old people. Every key job in the county is held by a 60+ guy who has no clue what the modern world is about. "young" CEOs or politicians are 40~45.
- Strikes every other day for whatever reason, that yield no result.
Honestly, I have visited a few other countries, and really loved Canadian (I stayed in Toronto and Vancouver), Norwegian, and Swedish mentalities. God I would love to live in Sweden.

Funny, Finland is where I was born and China is where I'm heading(Applied to HKU). Finnish people are hardly that moral, they're just scared to break the law. I've lived in Italy also and it's much better than Finland, although it's still too much Europe. I don't really understand why exactly people want to come to the cold hell that Finland is, cold both in climate and emotion.
Though admittedly the quiet cold people of Finland are preferable to the disrespectful idiots Italy is full of.
