I rarely tweet about Starcraft though, mostly personal updates and sharing links (tech news & web dev)

Example. I put something like this on my twitter at one point and it got picked up by starfeeder and let some more people see it that might not visit tl.net. #yyc Check out this page for Calgary Starcraft tournament This would then go out to anyone doing a search on #yyc or anyone following #yyc with a twitter client. (Since twitter is limited in characters people like to use the 3 letter airport code when possible. Calgary airport = YYC)

The show went on about how we are slowly cyborging ourselves and by 2045 the singularity will emerge. And they pretty accurately predicted other technological advances like the internet and things already. I think they quoted bill gates as being the best predictor with his AI program or something and transcedental math ( has a documentary coming out later this month, and a few books already). Probably true to an extent. Imho I think its a waste of time/removing your privacy/and lame anyways. Doesn't facebook already have a sort of twitter thing where you can just read people's walls or whatever? It's basically just a miniblog for people who can't put enough effort into a regular well written/though-out blog about anything important. I don't think social network sites are all totally negative on society. I mean I've used it to actually meet people(girls) IRL. And I've also seen people's friends from their pages and sort of got to know a person before I actually met them just by looking at their page (which is kinda good and scary at the same time). All that being said, I think I'll make a twitter account and just ramble on twittering about how lame twitter is or something and be a total hypocrite retard.

However, if you can find the time find people who have interests like you, and if you're willing to take the time to figure out what you want out of the service, it can be helpful.

As an idea, yes, it's really pretty dumb if you haven't tried it - Who wants to know what their friends are doing all the time? However, if you can find the time find people who have interests like you, and if you're willing to take the time to figure out what you want out of the service, it can be helpful. Exactly. One more important thing is, you need to use Twitter on various platforms to appreciate the whole idea behind it (and why it's getting so big) - as a Firefox addon, desktop gadget, on iPhone/BlackBerry and other smart phones, as widgets embedded on your blog etc.
