/bitter Basically what I learned last year is that college applications are maddeningly arbitrary - there are always the people you see and think "HE got in THERE?!" and you it doesn't make sense at all to you and it feels unfair. Basically, you just have to apply to enough colleges so that statistically you'll get into at least one decent one. I'm thankful that my results turned out okay, though I didn't get into my first choice. The lack of an explanation is what makes thinking back on it a nightmare. What if I had done better in that one class? Would that change in my GPA make the difference? What if I had changed this word in this essay? The fact that you'll never know makes it completely open ended. I remember realizing though, if they did give me reasons, I probably would have just disagreed with their reasons mentally. Think about it this way: if you DESERVE to be in, but didn't get in, then sooner or later you'll accomplish the same things anyway, because it's just part of who you are. and it also helps to not be asian O_O

Asian male applying to schools is one giant FML tbh.

Ahh, UC San Diego accepts all 47k prospective students. What a great mistake that was.

i like texas tech more because of a robotics competition that was hosted there... it was pretty and it was snowing, etc. community seemed really nice
and UT austin has better credentials

Just found this thread cus of bumps I guess. I'm doing CS @ CMU and it's pretty hard. It's very theory-heavy and requires a good deal of work, which I'm not too used to. I just finished up my freshman year and got my first C ever. It's a good environment though, and I'm glad I came here. A smaller campus means that you have much better opportunities to meet people and network. CS is also very prestigious here, so companies know that when they hire people.
