It isn't really the features of FF, that particular set of events has nothing to do with the performance of a browser, just the fact that larger companies don't necessarily make sure that their site will work with every single browser since it costs them more money to review for that.

Those guys should do a linux distro, seriously. - I disagree. tabs- Opera has more options with tabs, duplicate, follower, open in background, lock irc- is that a negative to opera lol? mail - way more convenient mouse gestures - very convenient, but then again, you don't need alot of things.... browsing sessions- yeahhh too bad opera does it better sure....

for those of you who want a more photoshop-like interface with gimp there's always gimpshop

Lol nice thread, Opera is fucking junk though, Firefox ftw (it's faster, which is all that matters, and its tabs are fine)
Windows Defender is also junk and his been horribly outdated for years now.

If it wasn't mentioned, Gom player FTW!

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet (I searched and didn't find it) there's a pretty good Microsoft Word clone Abiword.

Probably everyone has microsoft word I'm sure, but if for whatever reason you don't and you're too lazy to pirate/buy it then this is an awesome alternative.
Also if you're like me and you like to work between home/school computers, make sure you save everything as a .doc file rather than an .abi. Just a warning since I got screwed over because I forgot this detail, but other than this minor problem I've loved this program.
Edit: shit, how the fuck did I not see Open Office...ah well, I guess I'll give that a shot and see how it compares.

So I don't know why wouldn't someone want to even try an OS that is completely free, and has many of those applications listed in the OP in their repositories for download+install in one click. If you're used to windows, you certainly can get used to KDE. It's much more customizable theme-wise too. (though I use Gnome)

PeerGaurdian from phoenix labs.
I was told I should use this program when using my vuse account anyone know anything about it?

Ubuntu is very user-friendly as many have pointed out. Such lies... If you aren't used to Linux, you can't make Ubuntu do anything an iPod can't do. Feels like turning a 700 dollar laptop into a kid's organizer toy.

Chrome is much better, simplicity, faster, smoother.

Last time I checked(over winter) every tab is it's own process. Unless they changed that I'd advice against using Chrome for people who are tab heavy.

VirtualDub VirtualDub is a video capture/processing utility for 32-bit Windows platforms (95/98/ME/NT4/2000/XP), licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL). It lacks the editing power of a general-purpose editor such as Adobe Premiere, but is streamlined for fast linear operations over video. It has batch-processing capabilities for processing large numbers of files and can be extended with third-party video filters. VirtualDub is mainly geared toward processing AVI files, although it can read (not write) MPEG-1 and also handle sets of BMP images.

Bumping this thread to ask what is a good free alternative to Adobe Premiere? Googling a bit I found that kdeinlive and cinelarra seem to be two popular and powerful ones. Anyone used any of these and would recommend these or maybe some other program?
I don't care if it's linux only, but I prefer something that have been ported to both linux and windows.
