Second, if there is no god at all that doesn't necessarily mean there's no life before or after death. So your question is a bit of a stretch from people denouncing the Christian God, but to answer it, personally I feel like even if this existence is finite and meaningless, you can still live by your own morality and feeling of right or wrong. I think human sympathy and compassion exists even without the concept of god. So a counter question do you think that without a conviction in the existence of god that people are incapable of considering the happiness of their fellow human beings?
