Basically, I've been checking it out lately and I'm kind of puzzled how arbitrary it seems to rank people I know. It doesn't seem to be related to points, and even divisions and leagues don't really seem to matter, I'm hard pressed to find a pattern here. I've been on a winning streak tonight and I got a huge bonus pool and it does immediately record that my points are climbing but my world rank seems to stay around 2000 (which is just impossible, especially since it seemed to think I was in the top 3000 when I was still in gold).

So how the hell does it work? It is some huge buggy site whose ranking should be taken with more salt than Blizzard's own ladder and fish & chips combined or is there some ingenious method to its madness?
