Disclaimer: - The quality can only be as high as the originally uploaded video's quality. - It does not work for all videos - The shorter the video, the more likely the HQ version works - If you have my previous Youtube script installed this will not work. Uninstall the old one first to use this here.
Please, if you find a video where this script does not work, post or PM a link.
I have no clue how you manage to make that work. It has found every video clip i've thrown at it so far, and not only the image is better, the sound is as well. Wasn't expecting that much

It says HD on the screenshot which was taken from an earlier version. Anyway, HD wouldn't even be wrong as technologically the streams are HD-streams. It's just that the original source of most youtube videos is not high-res, high-quality.
Wow Zatic, this is another great little script. Is there any chance of combining the spoiler-free 'teamliquid player' with this high-quality one? Given the choice between the two, I'd personally opt for the spoiler free.

Unfortunately that's not so easy so I can't promise anything. But I'm on it.
Waited for a good 15mins for that video to load now. Also attempted another video with "HQ" quality available, neither of them successfully loads a single second. Am i not supposed to click the "Switch to higher quality: HQ Video Stream" or what?

Plz post a link to the video.
Edit: Just updated the script as I also found a video that doesn't work. Try again after reinstalling.
I feel noob^2 now. Seriously, i intentionally denied flash to install that version as i deemed HD flashstreams silly. Guess we all know who's really the silly one now though.
quick question: would it also mean that the HQ streams also take longer to load? On my campus isp it usually takes a while for me to load some youtube vids, so would it take the same amount of time or longer?

Something is broken there and it's youtube's fault. Shame on them.

The HQ video files are a bit larger than the normal ones, so they will take longer to load. It's not that big a difference though, and some are actually smaller.
The thing I don't like about youtube videos and why I loved stage six was the sound quality was so much better. I never minded to video quality too much.
but I think it takes a little while to down load (?) and the quality improvement is not a large step... when it gos to full screen, it looks to still be the low quality version.
bu thanks anyway - I'd much prefer watching videos that don't look underwater! although, the monkey face is scaring me a little.
Hm, I tried it and I have the greasemonkey logo in the bottom right of my firefox, but it doesn't seem to work at all.. the video quality of the BW movie which was screenshot in the OP was the same quality as the bad quality screenshot..
Anything I am missing? I did exactly as it says in the OP:
Already had firefox, so I started by getting the flash player, then greasemonkey, then installed the script (it even said script installed successfully and all that).
As far as I know I didn't have any youtube scripts installed from before.
Thanks in advance for any help!
EDIT: Nevermind, I must be really blind: "switch to HQ" DOH.

Question for zatic : do we catch all the HQ streams this way when available, and do we get the same as your script ?
You do get the same. However, you don't get anyting when there is no HQ video available.
Btw, looks like youtube is gradually moving towards HQ video. There is a new option in the preferences (when you're logged in) for HQ video. It doesn't seem to do anything yet though. But I guess youtube will offer high quality soon, if only to keep up with competing sites.
