The limitation halted medium-range strike and reconnaissance missions that used single Starlink-equipped UAVs as mesh-network relays to guide other drones deep into Russian-held territory (such as Crimea, the Donetsk region, and supply corridors).

So I've also been ruining my week following the news, I can't even imagine how people in Ukraine feel or how Zelensky is able to keep it together when on top of leading a country through an existential war he has to listen to a demented asshat who's supposed to represent his most important ally barking at him to stop resisting and just let the Russians have their way with his country because that will somehow give Trump's cult a boost in the midterms or whatever.
On top of being terror bombed daily, Ukrainians have to watch this complete clown show surrounding their national tragedy like it's a shitty joke. Europe is flanked by severe mental disorders. No policy, no strategy, just Putin whispering sweet nothings in Trump's ear for an hour and he's ready to sell out whatever remaining shreds of values America is supposed to represent and shit himself on the global stage again for maybe a tiny, temporary drop in fucking diesel prices. Though mainly it's for validation from Putin which Trump can't get enough of.
Something tells me Russians have potential to get way more from Trump but then diplomacy isn't their strong suit either, it's as if they're kind of stunned by a US president down on his knees in front of them and they don't really know what to do with that. The one scenario where Russia can still get some sort of win in this war is when the US starts directly supplying them weapons and intel, which looks to be one tantrum away at this point. If/when Trump withdraws from PURL, gotta sell the weapons to someone, right? Probably safe to say no one in the Trump admin remembers the mineral blackmail they tried to push on Ukraine but Russia would be happy to provide them some of Ukraine's rare earths. Maybe call it the Lavrov-Rubio pact or something (where the fuck even is Rubio?)
P.S. a bit of a Letting Off Steam Thread-type post I suppose, just felt the need to join in on the carthasis

As scary as this sentence is, Rubio is probably the best hope for Ukraine. Witkoff and Kushner are terrifying, and Kushner doesn’t even have a government position or clearance, I wonder what his role is in all these international discussions….

I hope Europe signs no further contract with the American defense industry. How can we trust those fuckers...

Welp, just last month the Finnish air force made a show of getting our first F-35's... luckily just in time, that could've been awkward!

This is very misguided.
Rubio is an empty vessel, he doesn't care about Ukraine or opposition to Russia, he cares only and exclusively about himself and how to get ahead.
He will say and do whatever he needs to in order to suck up to Trump because Trump is his ticket to potential presidency, if MAGA and Trump says fuck Ukraine he will shout that from the rooftops.
I cna guarantee you that if this situation between Zelenskyy and Trump doesn't end up in Trump tacoing (due to pressure from neo-con republicans and MIC) he's going to call for Zelenskyy to resign and call for elections in the next few days.
He doesn't' care, he doesn't' have principles, he wares clown shoes 3 sizes too big because Trump bought them for him.

Yeah I mean, between Rubio and Putin Fan Club members 2 and 3, Rubio would be my top pick but I guess he's under orders to never speak again anyway

The hawks are getting their wings clipped. So much for the MIC running the US.

The US gave PURL and Starlink/shield to Ukraine to begin with. And that's for a country that's not strictly a treaty ally. We've got a forever war in Eastern Europe in a country that's nice but also at war with a country we never want to be at war with. Realistically there are going to be limits. With Starlink for example, it's legitimately dangerous if a US private company were helping offensive strikes in Russia. Even though blowing up missile launchers sounds defensive because it stops Ukraine from being struck, it's offensive from the perspective of nuclear powers outright shooting at each other. If the diesel thing really causes Ukraine to (further) lose the war compared to where they are now, I'll eat my words, but otherwise what (other than start with not letting paltry diesel out) is the US expected to do that would be considered enough? Why does every week seem to get advertised like it's both the end of the world and Ukraine is on the brink of disappearing, and also that Ukraine is finally almost ready to turn the tide?

You are getting that impression because you are not following it closely and just reading headlines.
People don’t think one purchase is going to tip the scales, but obviously throwing a billion dollar lifeline to a country waging an offensive war that will only stop when they have to is a bad idea. Especially when they are supporting the country you are currently at war with, both materially and with intelligence. The starlink restrictions and stopping telling Ukraine about ballistics incoming massively impacted Ukraines defense. As far as the nuclear fear, I mean come on, they would have done it when starlink got turned off for them, not months and months later.
Imagine how if the US actually supported Ukraine how much further ahead they would be with interceptor drones and how much better the US and allies in the Middle East would doing vs Iran.
