it was critically acclaimed for its direction and acting.

Most people on this forum knew but not so for everyone else. This one lady cried "GENIUS! SO ORIGINAL" to me and i just had to tell her the plot was from infernal affairs, she wouldn't believe me until i showed her the dvd.
It was a big annoying that one of the director failed to acknowledge infernal affairs properly. When he accepted the award, he said the movie was based on a Japanese film wtf?
Other than that, the film was ok.

So do you know what you're talking about at all or do you just make things up as you go along?

Scorsese's acceptance speech:

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Rick. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Please, please. Thank you. Thank you. Could you double-check the envelope, please? I mean, I'm overwhelmed with this honor from the Academy and also the honor of being presented by my old, old friends. We go back 37 years. I'm so moved, so moved.

I've got thank Warner Bros.' Alan Horn and Dan and Jeff and I've got to thank our producers Brad Grey and Graham King and Mac Brown and my old friend Joe Reidy, we're working for 20 years. And Rick Yorn and John Lesher and Chris Donnelly and Ari Emanuel. And that crazy script by Bill Monahan that got me in all this trouble in the first place. And Andrew Lau's original film from Hong Kong, the wonderful Asian cinema. And Michael Ballhaus on camera. And Howard Shore's wonderful score. And my old, good friend Thelma Schoonmaker. Ellen Lewis for her casting.

And so much of this belongs to the cast, I can't tell you. Jack Nicholson for his courage and his inspiration. Leo DiCaprio, six-and-a-half year's work we've done together. I hope another 12, another 15. Mark Wahlberg, Matt Damon, Alec Baldwin, Ray Winstone and Vera Farmiga and Marty Sheen.

I just want to say too that so many people over the years have been wishing this for me. Strangers. You know, I went walking in the street, people say something to me. I go in a doctor's office, I go in a whatever. Elevators, people saying, "You should win one, you should win one." I go for an X-Ray, "you should win one." I'm saying, "thank you." Friends of mine over the years and friends who are here tonight are wishing this for me and my family, I thank you. This is for you.

And I also want to thank my daughter Cathy, who is here tonight, who worked on the film. And Domenica, my wife Helen, and our little Francesca, who's seven years old who's watching right now. Francesca, stay up for another 10 minutes but then jump up and down and make a lot of noise at the hotel. Okay. I'll see you in the morning. Thank you.

He talks about Andy Lau and Hong Kong, but not Japan. And also, I'd like to know more about "this one lady". You took some random lady home to show her dvds?

No. It was the lady announcing the oscars who mistakenly said the movie was based on a Japanese movie. The guy corrected her when he accepted the award.

Amid your fumbling accusation I've gathered, yet again, that you have no idea what you're talking about. Where in your writing did you refer to a "random person"? You said "director". Only one person directed "The Departed", Martin Scorsese.

I'd still love to know more about this random woman you had to show DVDs to.

What the fuck are you on about? Can you not fucking read? I said one of the directors (i miss the plural for fuck sake). My knowledge of the incident was that someone who worked on the departed made the mistake. I should've used 'cast' instead of 'directors', fine, a bad choice of word, shoot me. gg_hertz's account differs from mine and if he is correct then i'm wrong but did i made the story up as i went along like you said? You obviously don't have a clue about what happened and you are calling me a liar?

WHERE IN MY POST DID I REFER TO A RANDOM WOMAN. Which part of the English language equate "This one lady" to "random woman".

No, I can't fucking read. I read TL via braille.

My problem is you, and your trying to portray the creators and viewers of the film as plodding, ignorant hicks. You clearly understand basic english, and you seem to have a rudimentary knowledge of film. Therefore, you should know only one person directs a film. He didn't say the film was Japanese. Neither did the cast, which is comprised if dozens of people. The announcer at the Academy Awards did. I'm pretty sure he didn't actually work on the film. And yes, saying "this one lady" does equate to "random woman" to the reader. I was just pointing out how your stupid anecdote was bullshit.

Gee... I must've miss the part where being a condescending prick on the internet would also make one a human lie detector. Get off my nuts and troll some where else.

I'll take that as your not so graceful resignation from this discussion. Maybe next time you shouldn't chime in with some useless opinion of what you think happened coupled with whatever stupid story you think goes with it.

Well...My Sassy Girl will be one of my favorites because it was one of the first kmovie that I've watched. The best kmovie to me would be Fighter In the Wind. I just watched A Moment To Remember because it was suggested here. It started out well but ended up being generic >: (.
