If this thread turns into a USPMT 2.0, we will not hesitate to shut it down. Do not even bother posting if all you're going to do is shit on the Democratic candidates while adding nothing of value.

Rules:
- Don't post meaningless one-liners.
- Don't turn this into a X doesn't stand a chance against Trump debate.
- Sources MUST have a supporting comment that summarizes the source beforehand.
- Do NOT turn this thread into a Republicans vs. Democrats shit-storm.

This thread will be heavily moderated. Expect the same kind of strictness as the USPMT.

The answer to your quesiton is given in the Spoilers?

I like Warren, after that probably Bernie but honestly, I barely heard from any of these aside from Biden (pls no), Beto (dead on arrival?) and Buttigieg (seems nice enough but has 0 policy?).

Isn't Andrew Yang missing in the poll? Not that he has chances but he seems to get around on the internet a fair bit?

Gabbard is the best of a real bad bunch.
I mean half of them are talking about reparations to descendants of slaves 150+ years ago.If theres ever a system ripe for abuse and chaos it’s that.

Fortunately, we have many months before we need to pick a candidate At the moment, I like Warren the most, with Bernie and Pete not far behind. We'll see though.

Jeez, so many candidates! I hope the debates will be as entertaining as the 2015~2016 republican debates, but I'm probably in for a disappointment.

Sadly, of all the Democratic nominees listed on Wikipedia, in alphabetical order, his was the only name of the 22 that could not be in the poll because TL limits the number of poll options to (strangely) 21. As a result, he is a victim of what he has been warning everyone about, that technology will make you disappear.

Remove the top 5 most popular people and dems would have a list of good candidates lol. The most ideal dem to me is someone that doesn't run a campaign on raising taxes.

Hard to say, I think Sen. Sanders is the better candidate whilst Sen. Warren would be the better president.

Andrew Yang is the 2020 version of Bernie 2016, can't win but raises the points everyone needs to talk about.

The talk about reparations will be forgotten the second primaries are over and you don't need to out-IDPOL the other primary candidates.

I voted for Warren but maybe Sanders would have been the better choice, considering he has the best odds against Trump.

Klobuchar is the candidate that will win the election easily but the coastal dems won't accept a flyover state candidate so I guess we're going to have an election.

But man 2020 is the year of candidates that have no chance and are throwing in to throw in. You thought that trump couldn't win another election but here comes the democratic party. Warren can't win tulsi Gabbard is a worse Hillary America isn't voting a gay candidate Biden makes trumps sexual misconduct go away A guy with the last name of castro is not going to win. And those are the candidates that are worth mentioning why they won't win.

Khamila Harris is the Californian candidate so she'll probably win if Bernie gets screwed again.

Shes been associating with the far left for so long that shes never going to be able to shake that off in a general or even a serious primary. She also burned her bridges with the far left by endorseing hillary instead of sanders.

She has no base and more skeletons in the open then anyone other then trump.

Warren has a tough job ahead of her. Democratic primary voters are scared of losing again and due to that are being open about pragmatic candidates. Biden lead seems to be because voters current think he has the best chance of beating Trump. But until we get closer to a debate and a real primary, it is going to be hard to gauge.

Not going to trust Biden's lead until we have more polls with >10 people under 50

I like Warren a lot but I still think Sanders is a better candidate. More name recognition, quite a bit more charismatic, and harder for someone like Trump to attack. The gap in electability is too large for me not to consider it when the policy substance is similar (arguably Warren's policies might be a bit better).

Warren's outrageous tax policy to pay for college is what's ruining her. So what if she fixes the college student loan issue by taxing trillions of dollars. That's one of many issues that needs fixing. And everything that needs to be fixed she believes can come from just taxing the income of the 1% and if not them then taxing someone or something else. You can't just endlessly tax everything. Maybe if she came out with proposals that weren't meant to win millenials-in-debt votes she'd look better.

Lets not kid ourselves, Biden is terrible at running for office and the those Onion articles about him being a doofy uncle in the White House are the only reason he is even in the running. That meme of a character somehow obliterated his shitty record on pretty much every issue that matters to modern Democrats.

Edit: Warren going after billionaires is one of the least controversial parts of her platform. Most Americans have no love for the super wealthy and dislike student loans a whole lot.

I disagree. I think there's a massive debate between those who are looking to retire on social security wanting trillions to fix that problem versus those who took out loans for education and can't get themselves out of debt. I also believe there are other groups of people who are looking for rich money to fix their problems and don't want to see it distributed elsewhere.

And then there is me saying, “We should do both, really.” Student debt is a huge problem for the country and the student loan industry had enjoyed enough federal protection from being discharged. And the social safety nets created for our aging population need to be addressed. And none of this is going to happen on the cheap. The whole plan of pitting the young against the old only works if we buy into the idea that they need to fight over the scraps super wealthy are willing to give up.

I agree both issues need to be tackled. But I won't vote for any who says we will do it by taxing the 1% or any other income class. We already give up too much through income. I want a candidate that understands this. I lived off very little so I could pay off my debt and make a good salary. Anyone who wants to take more of my hard earned salary directly out of my paycheck will miss my vote. I'm not opposed to other taxes outside of income tax if they make sense.
