i won’t believe trump would veto the CR until it happens. this’ll just be his last effort to get what he wants before he realizes he just can’t win this game of chicken. if he shuts down the government he still can’t get his wall funded before the new year. and the house will be full on obstructionist by then no doubt. i can’t see a single upside to this. Congress will be thrilled i’m sure.

You do know that no one in this thread was alive during the Vietnam war, right?

People like Miller have been spoon feeding that to him since he won the election. He is convinced this is a winning move right now and this makes him look strong. In fairness, you've seen in the other thread that our Conservatives believe the same thing. It might well be that Conservatives in America in general think it's a winning issue.

It might well be that Conservatives in America in general think it's a winning issue. It is like they attempting to push through the Big Lie to the rest of the voting public. That if they say Americans care about this issue more than anything, it will magically become true. Since 2016 they have pushed this narrative for themselves. It sort of this delusion that if they push the issue for long enough, people will just agree out of attrition. I’m sure they will convince themselves all the way through to 2020 and run on hard line immigration stances again. It is the voodoo economics of immigration reform. Edit: Mattis has resigned over the President pulling out of Syria without consulting him or congress. I guess Trump is going to have to find another Defense Secretary that agrees with Trump's plans to screw over our allies. In a hard copy of Mattis' resignation letter acquired by CBS News' David Martin, the defense secretary said he is stepping down because of the differences in viewpoints with Mr. Trump. "Because you have the right to have a Secretary of Defense whose views are better aligned with yours on these and other subjects, I believe it is right for me to step down from my position," Mattis wrote. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/james-mattis-retiring-as-defense-secretary/

Resignation letter. There's a lot of subtext there suggesting Mattis was forced out.

edit: Subtext? The last two paragraphs on the fist picture basically spell it out.

All Americans wanted was a stress free holiday, but apparently its all crisis all the time. Edit: My brother better not get called up by this piece of shit. Mattis was the one thing that gave me hope we would be thrown into some stupid conflict planned by this dumbass.

Time to update the Trump Administration departure charts. Here's to hoping the replacement isn't a crazy yes-man.

That resignation letter essentially reads “you’re wrong, you’re fucking our allies, you’re aiding Russia, and I won’t be a part of it”. I wonder how long it’ll take for Mattis to be flamed on Twitter. Don't expect Mattis to go on a press tour to bad mouth Trump so it might just end here.

But this does reaffirm my "harder than he thinks" take on pulling out of Syria. The soldier class is going to resist (mass resignations?) leaving our Kurdish allies to get massacred.
