He is either trying to claim she hasn't secured the job as Speaker of the House or, more likely, that she is having some sort of problem because she is a woman. Pelosi just ran with it by essentially saying: "Please do not speak for the strength I bring to this room, it speaks for itself." The whole meeting was a shit show. Trump called in the press for a surprise visit and attempted to use Schumer and Pelosi as props in a photo op. And in response to being ambushed in a photo op they didn't agree to, both of them went HAM on him. He looked like a child throwing a fit. Edit: Trump is so god damn dumb. He tried to pull a stunt like that on a seasoned NY politician and Nancy Pelosi, whos own party is gunning for her as often as the Republicans. Did he think they were going to bend over backwards trying to be polite and friendly in the year of our lord 2018? Did he think they haven't thrown down on camera before?

Schumer also CRUSHED trump by getting him to take responsibility if there is any shutdown. He is on tape now saying it is his shutdown, fucking horrible move

Every time they bring up the deficit you respond with the deficit in their last budgets. Every Single Time until they stop or the literal end of time.

As we can see from certain other people, once you are in the cult of Trump, you will never back down, and simply exist in an alternate reality. They probably think that suddenly deciding to shut down government for a project that could had been funded 2 years ago is perfectly fine. Considering the Trump’s cult following, or base, failed to beat out the rest of the country in the midterm elections, yeah it matters. He shuts down the government a week before Christmas people are going to flip their shit.

If the wall was built, then Trump would have to answer why there are still brown people invading white towns. If the wall remains unbuilt because of the Democrats, then it is the Democrat's fault your neighbors are brown. Also, we have so many walls at the border already. El Paso could pass as Israel if you didn't include pictures of the flags. So the political mythos of the wall as a solution to the demographic threat needs to be maintained independent of any real world facts.

So I’m gunna say that banking on immigration being a wedge issue that wins Republicans elections going forward, not so much. But it is sort of all they have left.
