Murkowski's the one exception. Isn't the Kavanaugh issue really one-way in Alaska and they all hate it? I think I saw a link to something about it many, many pages back. If that's the case she'd be dumb to vote yes for him unless she genuinely believes he's a-ok.

I'm torn... on one hand I dont want Duffman on SCOTUS, but on the other hand I want to maximize the chances of a blue wave this Nov and increase court awareness for Dems in general going forward. I suppose I'll be content either way.

It's by Christopher R. Browning, a leading historian on the holocaust. He compares several qualities of the current state of our republic with interwar Germany. The similarities are chilling. Conservatives - if you want to understand why we're all flipping out about B-Kav read this. The Suffocation of American Democracy Interesting article.

Looks like Collins is getting a fuckton of pressure from both sides, including from her home state constituents and newspapers. I think she genuinely wants to vote no but there are just so many political considerations she has to take into account. I live in maine, she honestly may have already lost the reelection because the dems I know who have voted for her are tired of her and the repubs I know are tired of her not falling in line. Her appearance as a centrist, almost independent of party is the reason she did well here. No one has the patience for that anymore.

Nobody should really believe she operates in good faith/believes the things she's told.

Bar some "But"... at the end, Kavanaugh is going through. I love that she is attacking the democrats for opposing the nominee before they were named, which is exactly which her party leader under Obama. And the money behind the opposing BK is only matched by the money supporting him.

Ofc whoever they would have picked in place of Kavanaugh would have voted the same, but the fact she is expressly using these cases to justify voting for him is funny.

Roberts is going to pull a full "On second thought, the constitution doesn't allow this." That is how little faith I have in a Republican controlled court.
