edit: regarding your edit, keep in mind that far more eligible voters get turned away by voter ID laws than improper votes get blocked. And those people being turned away are mostly democrats, I think.

How can anybody argue that this is anything more than a stalling tactic now? Seems like they're voting on Monday regardless, hopefully Kavanaugh can get approved and we can leave this ridiculous saga behind us. Well she's claustrophobic and probably doesn't care for flying on top of that. Same reason I hate flying. Why is that odd? Also, you would want a drunk accused of attempted rape who has financial issues put on the supreme court? Stellar taste you have there. I like the arbitrary deadline they set up. It's gonna help Dems immensely in Nov. Go ahead! Do it! Tell 150 million American women that you don't care if he covered a 15-year-old girl's mouth so nobody would hear her scream while he raped her. That will work out great.

- Gutierrez was probably the better candidate but never endorsed Gallego - Gallego is a dumbass and didn’t spend much on advertising despite having a lot of cash on hand - The previous Democratic senator is in prision for a dozen or so years. That’s what caused the special election in the first place There’s no surprise turnout is low, especially in a low turnout state. You had a good candidate vs a bad candidate where previous member of bad candidate is literally in prision right now. Since an Australian dragged this Texas example out without even considering the contexts of this loss, I’ll drag out an Australian example for him to understand. Its exactly the same as Tony Abbott nearly losing his pre-selection against an empty chair or why the seat of Wentworth is far more questionable for the LNP despite the demographics.

Wentworth is questionable because they knifed the sitting prime minister from that seat.Of course there will be backlash from Wentworth voters against that. Not really comparable is it? I mean if Turnbull had remained PM he would have won the seat easily at the next election.

Regardless, this bullshit ram-job is not on a fuckin' timeline, so why does it matter? Also, why would she demand an FBI investigation if she lied? And why WOULDN'T Kavanaugh? This accusation is 100% true I'll bet.

Question not a leading statement. She has claustrophobia, she wants access to spaces where there are easily accessible exits. Hence why I don’t believe she wants a train or plane, because getting out of them is not easy.

They’re all examples of people being pissed at the sitting party: - Abbott nearly lost pre-selection against an empty chair because he’s instigating everything - Wentworth could go independent because people of Wentworth aren’t hot on the LNP and how they treated Turnbull - The previous Texas seat holder is literally a criminal in prision, people in that seat aren’t too hot on the Democratic Party right now Like, it goes without saying that there might be a swing against incumbent party if the incumbent party’s previous member is in jail.

From what i understand she also denied the option of a hearing in California (people flying in from DC)? Why not report it to police when it happened? You have to admit it’s ridiculous.Absolute stall tactics. Remember the dems have tried all this before with Clarence Thomas and Anita Hill. They’ve got form.

And just like that time, the Republicans are acting like scumbags. Let me word it in a better way for ya: Democrats have tried to bring to the attention of America that a predator has been nominated for the supreme court twice, but soulless Republicans keep blocking their efforts to do what is right.

People be throwing a fit because this woman didn’t leap into the air when Grassley said jump. And Grassley needs her to testify. Susan Collins amen Jeff Flake are both not voting for Kavanaugh until this woman is hear. And Grassley is not a king, he only controls the senate judiciary by one vote and Jeff Flake isn’t moving this thing forward until he hears from Ford. People be mad at Ford for reading the room and having a good plan.

Hahaha! www.nytimes.com/2018/09/19/us/politics/christine-blasey-ford-brett-kavanaugh-allegations.amp.html Or she flew for a job opportunity and isn’t going to do that for the Senate because they are definitely not going to pay her or improve her resume. Again, they want her to testify. She didn’t ask to. Edit: also I love that you are complaining about stall tactics when like it matters. Who cares? Stall tactics are part of politics. Complaining about them is like complaining about getting 6 pooled in Starcraft. It’s the nature of the game.

But that shit is irrelevant, the articles themselves also point out that she's able to fly on planes but finds them stressful and doesn't want to deal with it. In this situation, she can damn well set the terms of her testimony. Like you point out Plansix, she's the one asked to testify not the other way around. She's not even asking for them to delay the hearing indefinitely, she's asking for a few days to get her affairs in order which I think is fair because people are literally sending her death threats over the internet. Like, what the hell is with a certain contingent of conservatives automatically dismissing this woman as a bloodsucking vampire trying to abuse this situation for personal gain.

Where people muster the energy to send death threats to a woman they don't know, I have no idea. Life's far too short to spend just finding ways to hate people. Maybe what this woman is doing is a big deal, and she wants a modicum of space to get ready. So fucking what.

She's being asked to testify because she accused a man of attempted rape and thinks that she can just throw it out there and stop a Supreme Court nomination. But she doesn't have to go. Grassley offered to send staff to California, anyways. IIRC, her lawyer didn't even answer them back for like 24-36 hours this week. She didn't think they'd ask her to talk; her team thought they could just throw a bomb out there and the gutless Republicans would balk. So far everyone else has spoken the Committee with risk of some sort of legal penalty. She is the only one who hasn't.
