I mean, just imagine what the debt would look like WITHOUT that period of the adults being in charge.
We should move immediately to get a constitutional amendment to let Clinton back in. Probably only he's capable of doing it.
Oh, and of course, bring back the 105th and 106th Congresses at the time which were Republican majority. Let's bring them back if they aren't still there. Because you need Congress to pass budgets. I mean most of them are probably not a day past 90 years young.
Barring that, if not enough are still alive to be available, we could at least put our weights behind political forces that want to cut the size of government the way Clinton did, cut waste, cut spending. Wonder if any factions have tried that recently and if any others have rabidly opposed it.

A woman in Tennessee, who had received the death penalty, was recently given her "lethal" injection... but she survived. Now she's on a ventilator in a hospital, receiving medical care:
Christa Pike, a Tennessee inmate, is conscious and speaking six days after her failed execution, according to a statement from her attorneys.
“Against all odds, Christa Pike is conscious, speaking, and continues to receive critical medical care. Despite the severe damage she endured to her arms, she is still handcuffed and shackled to the bed. Her recovery is medically unprecedented. Her prognosis remains unclear but, at a minimum, we expect a long recovery,” her attorneys said in a statement.
Pike, who was sentenced to death for the 1995 murder of 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer, was to become the first woman executed in Tennessee in 200 years.
After surviving two ostensibly lethal doses of pentobarbital during her planned execution, she was transferred to a hospital where she was unconscious and placed on a ventilator, receiving lifesaving medical care. https://www.cnn.com/2026/10/06/us/tennessee-execution-christa-pike
Now the question is: Do they try again?
With the astonishing news that Christa Pike is conscious, talking and making a "medically unprecedented" recovery following her botched execution, Tennessee is now facing a critical question: Will the state try to kill her again?
"Against all odds, Christa Pike is conscious, speaking, and continues to receive critical medical care," her attorneys said in a statement on Oct. 6. "Her prognosis remains unclear but, at a minimum, we expect a long recovery."
So far, Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee has not responded to repeated calls from Pike's attorneys and death penalty observers to commute her sentence to life in prison. That leaves open the possibility that Pike will face a second execution, even after her attorneys said the first attempt on Sept. 30 amounted to unconstitutionally cruel and unusual punishment. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2026/10/06/tennessee-execution-christa-pike-second-attempt-botch/92127144007/

I feel like we recently talked about this. Multiple times. You have to look at economic conditions as well as who controls congress. There is no party of fiscal responsibility, those that existed have ben driven out of Congress anyway. Politicians see surpluses as money to be spent. The idea that Dems are better on this are belied by looking at the sorry states they control. There will be no hard choices until those choices are unavoidable.

you should listen to Reagan's 1964 speech " A Time For Choosing". A lot of it is about how bad the USA's debt load was... it painted a dire picture for the USA's finances. Then notice how he spent money faster than they could chop down the trees to turn them into the paper needed to print the money. During the 1964 speech he makes it sound like the USA is going to go out of business. He becomes President in 1981 and starts spending money like crazy. The world’s leaders getting together to decide on a Cold War to benefit weapons manufacturers is just making up another unsupported conspiracy theory when you have nothing to show for the last one.
Please also claim that Gaza and the West Bank were created by the military industrial complex to make money off wars. You’re being too Western-centric in your batshit crazy theories.

"Republicans need to deficit spend more to fix the economies they crashed" isn't a very compelling argument to vote for them because of the deficit.
Politicians see surpluses as money to be spent.
If this were true the deficit would have increased, not decreased, under every Democratic president.
The idea that Dems are better on this are belied by looking at the sorry states they control.
Let's look at the debt/GDP for the biggest five solid red and solid blue states (I'm counting Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Michigan, Virginia, and Arizona as purple states).
California - 2.7% New York - 2.4% Illinois - 2.5% New Jersey - 4.9% Washington - 3.8%
Texas - 2.5% Florida - 0.9% Ohio - 4.1% Georgia - 1.6% Tennessee - 2.5%
truly a vast gulf in difference, lol. But it might become pretty staggering when you realize 1) the schools, public infrastructure, etc. are all vastly better in those five blue states [so not only do state Democrats spend about the same amount of money as state Republicans, they're getting much better shit for what they spend it on], and 2) those five blue states net contribute more to the federal budget than the five red states by a lot. Meaning if federal taxes and spending were more equitably distributed, Republicans are even worse.
There will be no hard choices until those choices are unavoidable.
There will be no hard choices because people keep falling for Republican lies.

Someone with a brain could possibly make some good cuts, but DOGE under Elon Musk increased the deficit.
