The funny thing is CNN isn't even reporting this is what happened, it's just reporting Iran said this is what happened. Although best as I can tell, it is in fact what happened.

So Trump's negotiation strategies have won the day ... again. Most of the toll money will go to Oman which will go straight to the USA. What little toll money the Iranians get will be used in place of war reparations. and, We just barely dodged yet another Nuclear Holocaust! whew! I feel safer already!

You can really see when oBlade runs out of inspiration to bullshit and feels defeated by him retreating into a 1 line snark replies.
It's a pleasure to behold.
Enjoy your "victory" buddy!
I'm glad that you achieved all the goals, got a new regime in (even if it's one generation between them, a regime change is a regime change), got rid of the enriched nuclear materials (well, still needs to be located and taken out and given to US and it's not even on the 10 points but I'm sure that Trump will use his legendary negotiating powers to fix that) and completely destroyed Iranians ballistic missile capabilities (as seen by them hitting Saudi Oil facilities yesterday by only one or two missiles instead of 10).
Also nice to see Jimmy completely disappear into delulu land of "Trump won" after getting his early morning Fox fix!

I think Afghanistan may have been a bigger defeat than this, simply because it took so much longer, the US invested so much into it, and then it went back to exactly the state it was before, only with some additional looted US weapons.

i can hear it now from Trump. "guys we made it to the moon and back again. what is the point of giving NASA any more cash? we're putting it all into the military budget!"

It's not even like CNN is only announcing what Iran claims to be true and is ignoring what Trump claims to be true.
And given that Trump has been the least trustworthy person on Earth for a whole decade now, and that he started this war against Iran merely to distract the public from the fact that he rapes kids, it would be silly to automatically believe Trump's claims without a mountain of additional evidence that has been verified independently by people or organizations unaffiliated with Trump.

In the end things went back to how they were but at least the initial action was seemingly successful. It didn't last but they took over the country and effected a temporary regime change.
In Iran on the other hand nothing was accomplished. Their nuclear program was already destroyed last year and intelligence said it wasn't rebuild. There has been no regime change, just the removal of an old one for a younger fanatic that is likely to turn out to be a negative, not a positive long term. Military infrastructure got blown up but that just gets rebuild. With money from a strait that was previously at least in theory free open water and is now firmly Iranian controlled and taxed.

oBlade, surely even you've got to recognize that Trump surrendering a war he was on the cusp of winning is actually worse than just losing the war?

Wow, that seems like a pretty huge thing for you to miss. The country ceased to exist and then popped right back out of the blue. Really makes you wonder if you're getting your information from quality sources.

Hegseth also calls Israel a "brave, willing and capable ally" to the US. He says the rest of the world and other "so-called" allies of the US "should take some notes". Ok mate, if you say so.

I never claimed that bottom mines had been destroyed. You heard that Iran had somehow been caught off guard by the attack Trump had been threatening to do for a decade and had instantly ceased to exist after air strikes and thought "yeah, that sounds plausible, I'm going to start repeating that, I bet nobody will laugh at me".
Take your licks man, you worked hard for them.
In other news, the Wall Street Journal is reporting that the Iranian Navy is still in control of the strait and that ships are still stuck awaiting Iranian permission before they pass. https://www.wsj.com/livecoverage/iran-war-2026-trump-deadline-latest-news/card/iranian-navy-tells-ships-they-still-need-permission-to-transit-hormuz-FMzNRiVrAIPGWczJDXwF
No non Iranian ships have passed since Trump declared the strait open.

From your link:
"President Trump on Wednesday said he is considering the formation of a “joint venture” with Iran to set up tolls in the Strait of Hormuz ... Any "joint venture" was not part of Iran’s 10-point peace plan that the U.S. agreed to"
Annnnd just like that, Trump has already stopped honoring the deal with Iran. It's almost as if Trump can't be trusted...
I also love how Rubio just got thrown under the bus again: "The Islamic Republic’s previous proposal to toll vessels drew criticism from Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He blasted the potential “tolling system” as “illegal” and “dangerous for the world"" And now that Trump is okay with it, I'm sure Rubio won't have much to say about the toll anymore.
