You just don't understand. Trump is writing terrible letters to foreign leaders to troll the libs.
My favorite thing about this is all the smug conservatives who are always like "heh, you silly lib sheep believe Trump is dumb because you listen to globalist corporate media. You just don't understand his messaging and what his plan is"
This is Trump being straight weak, dumb and embarrassing. There is no one who reads this and is like "yeah he's the best"

that is the saddest excuse for a presidential letter i have ever seen.

The letter does provide some compelling evidence that he doesn't talk like a third grader because of some genius technique to manipulate crowds. Unless he is also applying that to Erdogan.

A lot of uneducated conservatives hate that educated liberal elitists talk down to them. With Trump they've found someone who can talk across to them.

A bunch of staffers must have seen that letter before it was released to the public, and all of them would have known how ridiculous and stupid he makes the White House sound. So either they had to tactfully try to explain to Trump that he can’t publish that letter, only to petulantly be overruled, or the version that was released was the edited and improved version. I’m not sure which amuses me more.

Also some poor Turkish government official is going to have to translate it into Turkish while trying to maintain the unhinged tone and flow of the original. That idea also amuses me as a good translation wouldn’t be an accurate one so the poor guy is going to have to deliberately write nonsensical Turkish phrases in an official document for the President to capture the essence of the letter.

It must be fun to be an english teacher in the conservative parts of the US atm.
"Sir, you gave me an unfair grade for my essay" "Because it was written terribly" "BUT THE PRESIDENT!"

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan put US President Donald Trump's letter "in the bin", the BBC has been told.
In the letter dated 9 October, and sent after US troops were pulled out of Syria, Mr Trump told Mr Erdogan: "Don't be a tough guy. Don't be a fool!"
Turkish presidential sources told the BBC that the letter was "thoroughly rejected" by Mr Erdogan.

You just need to explain to the children that sadly, their parents weren't really really rich, and thus they will have to learn stuff to be successful in life.

It’s interesting reading nonetheless in a cod psychology way, people have said Trump gravitates to ‘strongmen’ like Putin because he sees himself reflected.
I don’t see, reading this how one can hold that angle. He reminds me of those kids at school who were ‘cool’ enough to bully folks down the chain but were complete lickspittles around the real popular cool guys.

I read an article a while back about Japanese translators and their difficulty with Trump speeches. They were complaining that it made them sound like idiots if they did accurate translations, so some of them aimed for more context than literal ones.

You can admire powerful men and see yourself as one of them without sharing any of the qualities that make them powerful. It’s no different than how Trump insisted that if he’s been at the Parkland school shooting he’d have run in and wrestled their guns off of them. He admires heroism and therefore he believes himself to possess it. Trump can simultaneously be the furthest possible distance from a strongman and convinced that he is one.

Looks like the letter worked, Turkey will stop the offensive into Syria and will get its safezone while the Kurds will integrate into Syria. You guys might gloat over the way the current US president doesn't have others write his speeches for him but he basically ended the eight year civil war that Obama and Hilary Clinton started in less than a week. Five hundred thousand dead and most of you would be ok with another hundred thousand dead just because you like the view from your high horses.
It takes a lot of balls to clean up the trail of devastation Obama left behind. Most likely this whole Turkish invasion was planned by the US, Turkey, Syria and Russia beforehand but who cares about a little political theater if it finally ends this mess.
