I'm curious for the absence in these moments of all the people in the thread who are so often soooo inspired by their leader's words... curiously absent when he is speaking so loudly and obviously.

No doubt, they are still inspired, so much so into silence.

Probably just working on a neat dismissal line. Everyone getting their panties in a twist, clearly Trump's not being racist because he didn't explicitly state 'I am a racist' while wearing a klu klux klan hat, leftie liberal sensitivity etc. etc. I mean, they've dismissed way worse. This is water off a duck's back.

Clearly he's talking about the swamp, which The Left is fostering. It's really the simplest explanation in the world and you should all be ashamed for the blatant stoop to identity politics, but I guess I shouldn't expect anything better.

I was thinking about editing in how they're going back to their sanctuary cities, whose streets are filled with crime as Sharia Law has taken over, but that felt like I was trying too hard.

I dunno. I heard this one got White people, in 2019, to be like "what the fuck, man", with everyone else going "yeah no shit". It doesn't seem like much new, but it was just a case of ol' Donnie saying the quiet part out loud, for a change.

Interesting point about incumbents, I could see that being true (maybe not in every case, but as a general rule).

As the homelessness crisis in left wing San Francisco continues to get worse rich people are opposing the construction of a homeless shelter on environmental grounds, after previously raising $100,000 in a crowdfunding campaign to stop the homeless shelter. Are these hypocrites also supporting illegal immigration into the USA thus exacerbating the crisis? As long as they don't have to live near poor illegal immigrants coming in it's all gravy i guess.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/jul/11/san-francisco-navigation-center-shelter-lawsuit

Opponents of infrastructure and affordable housing projects often call upon the California Environmental Quality Act as a stalling ploy to delay construction. The law requires developers to explore any environmental effects a project might have, and take steps to reduce them.

Attorneys for the residents, paid for by the more than $102,000 raised through the GoFundMe campaign, argued in the lawsuit that the project did not undergo a full environmental review process.

The city has argued that the project – a 200-bed temporary homeless shelter – is exempt was from such reviews.

“I question if this a legitimate concern or a last-ditch attempt to block the shelter by any means necessary,” said Kelley Cutler, the human rights organizer for the Coalition on Homelessness. “Methane emissions are bad for the environment, and this smells like bullshit.”

If I'm understanding your point correctly it goes as follows.

San Francisco typically votes Democrat.
All Democrats support illegal immigration.
Therefore all people in San Francisco support illegal immigration.
Some residents of San Francisco oppose homeless shelters.
Illegal immigrants can be homeless.
Therefore residents of San Francisco oppose illegal immigrant shelters.
Therefore everyone in San Francisco is a hypocrite.
Therefore Democrats are hypocrites.

I hope one day you look back on the posts that you make in this topic and realize how incredibly foolish they make you look. Your argument relies upon assumptions that you must know to be untrue. San Francisco is nowhere near 100% Democrat, Democrats do not typically support illegal immigration, and illegal immigration and homelessness are two completely separate issues. You know nothing about the people behind the GoFundMe, or their political affiliation, or their stance on illegal immigration, and what's worse is that you know that you know nothing about the people behind the GoFundMe.

"Siri, what is quintessentially neoliberal?" (the story not the commentary)

I heard about this when it happened but I've been saying for a while that neoliberal ideology values property/wealth above human safety, so that's not really the hypocritical part imo.

Not really. Zoning laws, rent controls etc (the regulations which give NIMBY's their power) are very illiberal and opposed by any liberal. Your whole conception of what liberalism is and stands for is one giant straw man.

Is this a roundabout way of saying Democrats aren't liberals or are you of the belief that Democrats oppose those things?

You guys know that we're not supposed to call Trump racist, right?
Calling people racist is what got Trump elected in the first place, apparently. Proper Americans are sick of being told not to insist that other Americans go back to their countries.
Calling those people racist is the real racsim here.

Sorry I meant liberal in the European sense not a US liberal. So classical liberal / neoliberal in the tradition of Hayek / Friedman.

Trumps twitter comments is pretty strange. It's clearly not written by Trump himself, as it is coherently written, so I guess it is written by his team. Ignoring the inaccuracy of the contents, it is yet another incidence of Trump and his associates openly courting racists and deliberately emboldening them.

But I guess the usual suspects will be telling us how we are all just pearl clutching, virtue signalling, bleeding hearts, instead of denouncing those same comments.

Honestly, the NIMBYism is the quintessential part of liberalism. Consider the evolution of the “limousine liberal pejorative.” Sam Francisco liberal elites easily hurdle environmental assessment burdens, but use it to defeat lower class property developments. They send their children to elite private schools, and don’t care when their legislation makes public schools awful.
Great armies come from happy zealots, and happy zealots come from California!

Dems never win when they get baited by Trump. This is just another distraction from Trump to draw attention away from Epstein or the Muller testimony this week.

Yeah, its currently set for the 24th I believe.
