Sorry to start this again. But I'm sort of obsessed with this.
Why do the best players use ball mouse over optical. Everyone says optical mouses are better and yet all the best players in the world have normal cheap ball mouse. I would just like to know why they play better with ball mouse over optical. I guess optical mouse istn more accureate after all. For brood war I mean.
Thank you all, love you!!!

No, more people now use optical...it's a myth that "the best players use ball mouse over optical." Optical mouse = less friction = better
|
i use ball mouse cuz i'm cheap
both the unit itself is much cheaper and no need for batteries =]
edit: i've had my batteries run out twice in ladder games back when i played bnet ladder =]...had to scavenge my roommates graphing calculator while he was out...
er yeah it was wireless, i guess opticals don't necessarily require batteries hehe

The lack of resistance isn't better. I don't view it as better anyway. My optical mouse's buttons are all gayed up too. I hate it. My ball mouse is incredible though. It seems a heck of a lot more accurate to me, and of course the buttons click better.
|
Thanks! That kind of info is what I was looking for. I hate my mx300. I though I was insane. More friction does seem more accurate. I don't know why all reviews of this mouse say that it is best mouse on the market. It is just good advertisment i see. I feel that I was more accurate with my logitech 5$ mouse than with this new logitech optical.
p.s. when helpmeh said that he ran out of batteries in ladder game, I laughed so hard. That is indeed very funny!

Ball is much better than optical. Especially when you have a nice mouse pad.
|
I hate how plastic mouse feels.. i can only use thick clothed mouse pads and a compaq or a microsoft mouse compaq is standard '00 and microsoft '97 ball mouse
|
|
i use mx300 with no mouse pad, and it works fine for me. previously ive had ms ball and optical mouses, and I think its safe to say that the mx300 rocks.
|
I think it's the "draggy" feeling you get when you use the ball mouse.
|
it really doesnt fucking matter just get used to something.
|
how the hell is a ball mouse better than an optical mouse? I guess it is if youre used to playing with it, but do you seriously think that the performance of a ball mouse is going to be better than that of a new optical one? I love my optical mouse. i dont have to clean it, theres no friction, and no fucking ball. :D
|
i really like the acceleration option on optical mouse like mx300, i dunno if ball mouse have that feature also.
|
The only reason an optical is less accurate is if it's used on a surface that it shouldn't be used on. Buy an optical mouse pad and they own ball mice hard.
|
|
only folk who say ball>optical are those who can't afford a proper optical mouse.
and whoever said that buttons are better on a ball mouse.... :r
|
if u want an answer to this question ask yourself
what type of mice do pros use?????
|
Of course the buttons are better on a ball mouse. The buttons on an optical mouse don't click correctly (literally making the click noise, I mean). Not only this, the buttons on my ball don't have to be pressed down as far to click and register. And, of course, I had one of the most expensive ball mouses around.
Edit: Duh. It's whatever you're used to is best. Get over it you optical mouse nazis.

I use a optical logitech mouse on a func mouse pad. Of course it's great: it slides perfectly (accuracy + speed). But there is something I really like in ball mice, it's the weight. Ball mice are much heavier than optical mouse and it gives me more control. I definititely think that most optical mice are too light. I'll buy a mx500 soon, I hope it'll be heavy enough.
Many progamers chose classy mice, not those with the best technologies.

The only problems I have with mouses is the cord and how to place it so it causes minimal interference. I fucking hate mouse cords. Cordless isn't option as long they have the delay. The ball doesn't bother my control at all, as long the mouse is clean.
|
My MX700 has no lag at all, though it has a different system (Radio or something to communicate with the base). Plus, this everglide mouse pad is smoother than anything I have used before. And who ever was asking about a heavy mouse, my 700 is heavier than my dad's mx500. I still need a keyboard that respond's faster =\
Optical > Ball
|
Aukai, I want that mx700 with radio thing. Let's trade lives??? Or tell me how to get one
Edit: And when I say one I mean the system, I don't need a life.

All I know is this, for all it matters.
- BoxeR uses a wheel mouse.
- I think wheel mouses are lighter than optical mouses.
- Most Pros Supposedly use wheel mouses.
- I like my optical better than my wheel mouse
- I have no clue what mouse I use, but it was the cheapest Logitech optical mouse I could find (20 USD).

In my opinion, the ball of a ball mouse is just as heavy as most of the optical mice. I heard that the mx700 is too heavy, you can get used to it, but it keeps being too heavy.
PS: shouldn't you say mice instead of mouses?

there's some odd looking thing u use to hold the cord of your mouse, I think it's called a mouse banshee or something like that, look it up

Its a mouse klip, (thats the name, with a k) dad has one, I got my MX700 for my birthday, all 70-80 $ of it ^^, and of course it's heavirer than he MX700, its the same thing, but wireless.
|
I have a mx300, which raises my coolness 25%. I'm currently at 750% coolness. Shooting for 50,000.
