Anyone have experience with all the bells and whistles? I dunno if they're worth it. Things like: Percolator - Seems like it would make the bong harder to clean, but might produce a smoother/cooler hit, not to mention it looks pretty fucking cool when there's smoke swirling around a spiral perc it seems. Worth it? Or does it not change much? Diffuser - Seems like it'll cool the smoke more and make the hit quieter (which is good for smoking in a residential area where I don't particularly like the idea of my neighbors hearing me outside with my current setup BLUB BLUB BLUB BLUB BLUB while I rip. Does it actually make a difference in a good way? Is there any disadvantage to it other than extra possibly unnecessary cost? Ash Catcher - This seems like a great idea to me since I don't like taking the time to clean this shit out and I don't want it to get disgusting. Plus this effectively adds another chamber of water filtration so that can't be bad right? Anyone have any idea also on volume recommendations? I'm not usually using this for a party scenario (though sometimes it happens), so I don't need anything huge. What's a good size for mostly just using for yourself or 2 people? Is 500ml big enough? Is 1000 a good size, or is this too big? I never know what to look for in terms of brand either. I've been browsing around grasscity, and I'm unfamiliar with basically every brand. The only brand I actually know from fame is roor, and from what I can tell they're not worth the price, though maybe someone will contradict me here? Basically I want a nice quality bong that I'll be really happy with for a while, and I'm not too stingy on price, but I don't wanna just waste money on something that won't be any better than something less expensive (so then I can spend that money on more greens!) ash catcher helps so you dont have to clean it as much i find 1 foot is a good size just make sure its glass on glass i prefer brand names like illadelph, roor, phx ect. but its based soley on your budget. try this site or your local headshop http://www.everyonedoesit.com/ | ||

First off, good brands to look for. Toro is an AMAZING company and so are US Tubes. Next, the tube itself. Percs do make things a pain in the ass cleaning wise, and since you seem to not like that so much, I suggest a disk diffuser. Toro makes some pretty fucking amazing ones (have hit 2 or three different toro disk perk tubes, and they are glorious.) ROOR is a fucking horrible brand btw. It should also be bought from a head shop, try VERY hard to avoid ordering from a "major glass site" like grasscity. They just dont have quality shit man. Oh also, sorry but a good bong costs MONEY, like a couple hundred bucks. As in, a good bit more than 200 depending on the bells and whistles. Ash catchers are okish I guess...but I dont see the point if you already have a nice as fuck toro with a sick as disk diffuser. Also, you should just bookmark that tokecity place. THAT is where you go when you want to learn about glass. | ||

Most of the bongs I've been finding online have been between the 18"-24" range, but I'll see if there are more of the smaller ones around. Unfortunately I have no local headshops. The closest ones (which are still >30mins away by car) are pretty small and don't have much of a selection  | ||
