What do you guys think about the commentators on the official site? I personally wasn't too sure whether I like them or not but finally I decided I don't. I can't even say why exactly but maybe it's a combination of them using too many "wells" and "for instance" kinda word as well as I think they look at the engine sometimes before suggesting a move which I find really dubious for commentators. Any combination of Trent+x would be much preferred.

Is there another (free) stream with different commentators? I saw Trent tweating earlier but I think the site he commentates on is pay-to-view?!

Looks like Svidler fucked up, to me

But Anand plays 20...h6 instead of 20...Rxf2 with just a free pawn as far as I can tell. Typical GM chess that I don't grasp :p

lol Vishy just went mental

edit: well okay maybe it's not that crazy but I think he should have taken the pawn on f2 earlier.

Anand is way to good not to see Rxf2 , he probably thought he would get more then just a pawn with his attacking possition and miscalculated somewere. Now its very uncertain if he will win =(

See this is what I thought too. But then what do you hope to achieve with an attack if you are playing ...Be6? It's such a non-move. The whole thing doesn't make much sense to me tbh.

Also Andreikin absolutely crushed Topalov. Kinda surprising.

I'm liking the Aronian game, such positions appeal to me.

Kramnik-Mamedyarov is cool too though :d Normally in such games all the craziness dies down and suddenly at the end it's a normal endgame where someone has some chances to convert later.

Would be crazy if Mamedyarov could win this!
He has a strong bishop that prevents the pawns from promoting.
Taking the knight on c3 in this position wouldn't be the best move according to the engine.
The only winning move would be Bh3+, but it's very hard to find.

Aronian-Anand looks like a really big match, but I'm not too hyped for it. Anand with black will have head-to-head advantage if he draws (first tiebreaker). I'm expecting to play something that usually ends in a draw with few chances for white. His last 4 games were draws, and most of them rathar fast ones iirc (only the last game vs svidler almost reached move 40).

I am disappointed. I thought Aronian would be a different kinda guy.
