Liz Truss's successor might believe that they can pull off a miracle and obtain their own mandate. Sort of like how Boris Johnson called an early election right after he became prime minister, so that he could secure his own mandate for his Brexit plans. | ||

The other issue is they have to make sure they're able to get legislation through parliament. Obviously their huge majority helps, but the divisions within the party are absolutely massive right now. Everyone currently in power is going to be close to losing their jobs, and the new guys are going to have to tread an extremely fine line to keep everyone happy. | ||
