Hello all, I recently ebayed a razer diamondback and it came in the mail today. It looks nice, but I'm having a problem with the sensitivity configuration software.
For some reason, the software isn't controlling the sensitivity of the mouse. The mouse is still controlled by the standard windows settings.
I'm using windows XP, and I reinstalled/rebooted a number of times, so I'm out of ideas.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I found my solution!
Thanks to the insistence of you people that the driver must not have been installed/uninstalled correctly, I went to my control panel/hardware/mouse and uninstalled the microsoft driver. Then...my mouse wouldn't work at all!
So I browsed (keyboard only) to the folder that I had the new diamondback driver in and installed it. Now everything works perfectly! I guess the windows one was interfering with the razer driver? I'm not sure exactly, but what I do know is that everything works perfectly now.
Thank you for all the responses and help guys. I really really appreciate it!
On another note, I'll be writing a review of the mouse (diamond back) and pad (mantis speed) once I've had a chance to play with them a bit and work out a reasonably informed opinion. I have been trying to hound people into writing about their own hardware reviews (particularly good players that like razer products like midian and day) so now that I've got this nice little gadget I figure I'll try to start the trend.
There is a lot of uncertainty and bullshit surrounding gaming mice, so I think it would be cool if we started sharing more information as a community since I trust you guys a hell of a lot more than those douche bags on the "tech and gaming" sites. -_- Bunch of paid off, sponsorship taking, company suck ups if you ask me.
It's plugged in in the USB right? If so, isn't there an option (like logitech) were it lets you choose wether speed and acceleration to be controlled by the OS or the software?
Ok listen to me. I had the exact same problem when I got it and it was because i interrupted the installation of the drivers, your drivers are probably not installed correctly. What you are gonna do is uninstall them and reinstall them, it should fix it. Problem is... you might not be able to uninstall them, if you aren't able to you are going to do a system restauration and go back to your settings when you didn't have that mouse and you are gonna reinstall them. Should work.
well sorry i just translated from the french term.
I'll try showing you the way but my windows is french.
Start > Programs > Accessories > System tools > System Restauration
Then you choose a date to go back to.
My problem was when I tried uninstalling it i would go back add/remove programs thing and it would still be there. I had to do this in order to get rid of it and reinstalled and it worked.
Use the Logitech MouseWare drivers. ^^; unless you want to use some funtionality of the mice itself, but I guess you can have both drivers installed on your computer. ?
Strange, it doesn't come back for me when I uninstall it.
But when I reinstall, I just get the same problem again. Anyone know what causes this? Is there a place that I can go to to assign the software a device/port to work from. Or some other way to "force" the software to control the mouse.
It seems like the software installation is ok and the mouse is ok. They just don't interact with each other.
Oh, and to clarify, I don't know if it's a driver issue of just a firmware issue. But the end result is the software that came with the mouse not working.
I think I'm uninstalling the drivers properly, but maybe I'm not. Is it a more difficult process than just going to add/remove software and getting rid of it?
hmm Dunno try on Control Panel, on the System icon, and search over the Hardware stuff. I think you can see if a Driver is working properly there or not, and You can uninstall it from there, I believe. But don't take my word, search over google or something, I think that you are not the only guy with this problem so..~+

Just wanted to help you with that since you butchered "System Restore" twice.
y, win xp sux. when i received my razer krait mouse i uninstalled mouseware drivers and keyboard + mouse didn't work. then i installed system once again and my system still wasn't working. after the second try it eventually started working properly.
Either you mean that your razr tray icon program isn't running, in which case you would have to run it manually, or you just plugged the mouse into the wrong USB port, which I'm 99% sure is what's wrong. I almost went ape when first my tray icon disappeared and later the on-the-fly sensitivity setting with button nr. 4 wouldn't work. Solution: think about which port you plugged it in first when installing, then use that one.
Had the same problem of course with the same mouse.
My only problem with diamondback is that it fucks up steam-software, mouse does not respond correctly: for example cursor does not go down if i move mouse slowly, i need to make fast spikes to aim, sucks ass badly
