I sold these knives during the summer after my senior year of highschool. I just did it on a very low level though, I made about $150 a week. For a senior in high school that was fine, all I wanted to do was go to the movies with friends and other shit like that. I sold to all my friends parents and stuff, lol. I never sold any of the big $1000 kits of anything, and I tried to not rip people off too badly or be a dick in pressuring sales. As hotbid said, though, most sales ARE definitely closed because the person buying it wants to help you (the high schooler) out, which is why this company targets high schoolers as salepersons.I quit because the job sucked ass, and I only took it cause I needed a source of small cash for summer.

Of course theyre upbeat, instead of selling shit ass knives to fuckers on the street for $2 a pop, they are making an instant $144 off of you in an office that didnt require them to go anywhere at all.

Haha, I was thinking the same thing. They probably make over $130 per sucker who buys those knives at the interview. Then they make extra by selling overpriced knives to the poor sap's family members who would never buy them otherwise. It's like a scam, but legal .

I think people who say they enjoy their knives are just in denial of the fact that they got ripped off for a generic knife .

A $1000 "kit" of knives? I don't even want to think about the kind of "stupide riche" who would buy that...

But your friends' parents and stuff essentially paid for your paycheck while you ripped them off.

I made bank selling those knives one summer but that was in like '98, maybe it's changed a lot. I had a similar experience, kinda too upbeat employers but that's just how that shit is. And the knives really are very good. They sell themselves.

I actually just had a experience with the exact same company. I knew something was fishy as soon as they called me back twice ( two different secretaries) in the same day, the day after i subscribed over the internet... No company will ever call u back twice the day right after u subscribed over the internet. Unless of course, something is wrong. Well I didn't even go to the interview (they wanted to give me the interview the same day they called me back, lol) because I got another job but after hearing your story I'm glad I didn't.

As many have said the knives are not that bad, and as I said I only sold in low numbers, none of the useless large sets. Anyways if you're going to go into business or retail or anything remotely sales-related you better get used to "ripping off" since it's called "profit." This was more of a "ripoff" than most though, but I don't feel bad considering the people buying the knives were buying them purposely to help me out. At least they got a knife for their niceness.

They got good knives, but it's a scam.
They just use you to try to sell the knives to your family and friends.
They simply recruit teens (and college students) that are struggling for money so they can abuse them by marketing the knives to their employees.

If you work for vector, you're just a tool.

multi-level marketing is a scourge of society, imo. a lot of my friends were drawn by the promises of easy money, but they all left shortly after being recruited. it's a waste of time, and a huge load of bull.

I went to the interview for the Vector company. I thought it was funny how they named themselves Vector but it had nothing to do with that. It was just a professional sounding name. It's a freaking sales company that just sells Cutco knives. I admit the Cutco knives were damn good quality, but it all seemed so shady.

Secretary with big tits and prett face. Check.
Boss is a pretty white boy with zero college education. Check.
Get a phone call later that evening saying I got the job easy. Check.
Me saying give me a break and declining. =D
Do your best, God will do the rest.

Well I think vector is a fitting name because vector has a connotation of "taking something from one place to another" Like a velocity vector is to describe something that's moving around, ect. Also a vector virus is the virus that you use to insert a specific set of genes to a desired organism to alter it's genetic behaviors.
SO the company uses students as a vector to get the knives to different people. Come to think of it they're a genius company in term of exploiting the nature of human, probably getting alot of money out of it while damaging all the reputation of direct sales.

Vector encourages you to sell your knives to family members and friends (or their friends and family members). That's how they make money. Instead of advertising it to random people, they try to use the pressure between family/friends to sell their goods.

My brain's rather fried right now, so I can't type as coherently as I normally do.
I should have elaborated on this more.

And I have no clue how the bottom quote backs up your assertion that I'm a tool.
