So out of general curiosity, I was browsing through some old Team Liquid threads wondering what the preferred undergarment for the gamer was. I couldn't find any thread that went beyond a page or two and most of them were from 2004. Let's see if there's any change in opinion 8 years later! Please note this poll is geared for males (sorry ladies).

Your vote: What kind of underwear do you wear the most?
So why did you make your choice? Have you always worn what you are wearing now or has it changed as you grew up? Do you have any favorite colors or prints? Do you buy cheaper pairs or are you willing to pay a little more?
As a kid I started wearing briefs, most of them with superhero prints. Spiderman and batman were my favorite. In 4th grade I noticed that all the other guys were wearing boxers when we were changing for PE. I bugged my mom and eventually she caved in. I wore boxers all the way until senior year of high school. I was actually a little embarrassed to be wearing briefs in the locker room and wore my briefs under my boxers just to hide them. Once I got to college I decided that I would switch over entirely to briefs, regardless of what my friends or roommates would have thought.
I love the feeling of briefs and I can't really understand people that wear boxers. I feel like I'm not wearing anything, so why even wear them at all? Boxer-briefs can be cool, but the legs always roll up and become loose for me. I always feel like I have to pull them down after I wear a pair for a few hours.

Because I want to wear nothing but need some protection against buttons/zippers and in general the rough inside of pants...
When I was a kid it was briefs like my dad, now it's boxer-briefs. I tried boxers but the edges roll up too much / too high, and it felt uncomfortable. Boxer-briefs are just right, good length, don't roll up, yet warm and non-obstructing for mah ballz.

Do you think you would clip some of the skin if you didn't wear any underwear? I think I've gone commando a few times (failure to do laundry) and I've never had this kind of discomfort.

ever thought about getting your own place?
I live on my own but for some reason have never bought underwear except when I go home once a year or so. Everything else I do on my own, but my mum notices my underwear looking all frayed and shit and buys some for me without me asking.

Same here. Actually I don't even think I've ever bought clothes for myself period. Just whatever I get for birthday/christmas will last the year.
Apparently briefs like hug your testes too close to your body which causes them to overheat reducing sperm count. Similarly to Mountain Dew - this is not a side effect I am concerned about considering my extreme reticence to sire children at this time. That being said - the free swing of boxers really gets the air under my wings. so to speak

Having that once was more than sufficient to convince me of not doing it again

I wear the shorter, terse version of him.
I prefer them because they aren't suffocating my crotch (yet still supportive), but at the same time they aren't so long/ baggy/ loose that I have too much extra material underneath my shorts or pants. It's most comfortable for me.

Same here actually, I've never bought underwear myself (though I buy most other clothes). =P
